Campbell led Gordon Tech to a 31-7 record, the Catholic League championship and second place in the Chicago city race. He averaged 17 ppg and was named to the Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sun-Times all-star teams.

Campbell finished as the team's second leading scorer and rebounder (to Maurice Lucas).

Hank Raymonds, coach of the Freshman Team, said the following about Campbell: “He's a hard nosed type player, a Brian Brunkhorst type. Very tough around the basket, with a better than average jump shot up to 15 feet. Strong physically.”

Rick was named team captain for the 1974-75 team.
