Ralph Risch was the first Marquette Men's Basketball coach. On January 13, 1917, in a small gym just outside of Madison, Wisconsin, Marquette University played it's first men's basketball game against Whitewater Normal. The Marquette Hilltoppers, led by captain John Fay, were victorious, 35-26.
