For some reason, Curran either graduated or exhausted his eligibility at the semester break for the 1927-28 season.

Curran went on to a successful career as a physician, in Antigo, Wisconsin.

William's daughter, Kathy, was recognized as one of Wisconsin's finest female golfers of the 1960s and his son, Mike Curran, later played basketball at Marquette as well.
