Powell was a three-year starter at Washington, where he won two state championships. He finished his career with 1,333 career points, including 648 as a senior. Powell was named fourth team AP fourth team and UPI second team as a junior and AP & UPI first team all-state as a senior.
Marquette Career
Marquette struggled during Powell's four-year career, but he excelled individually. He led the team in scoring during the 1988-89 season and finished ninth in scoring all-time at Marquette, with 1,571 points. He also led Marquette in rebounding for four consecutive seasons, finishing seventh all-time with 765 boards.
