I was never a huge fan but the guy is an excellent analyst.  I just heard him on the radio and he broke the game down perfectly.  He's particularly good on radio.  He also emphasized the importance of players getting better during the season, and that the transactional state of the game makes this very difficult.

What unique, transformational thoughts!

He's good.  Why the hostility?

Told a buddy that a couple times during the tourney. I thought he was very good on color radio the couple times I heard him (coming from a guy who does radio including sports for a living).
GO WARRIORS!

MuMark

He's very good on TV.....really like him as a studio analyst.

As long as he plugs Marquette, all good.

burger

Did not care for him that much....

There was a party for MU fans at the MU Hotel in New Orleans at the Final 4 and he walked in and right past everyone....

Kind of prick move.....

It would not have been nothing for him to spend 10 minutes glad-handing.....grabbing a mic.....making a small speech...Would have been no big deal....

I will always remember that.....

Then when he left....That IU press conference when he made his 5 year dress up in an IU cheerleaders outfit....

Hopefully he matured since....

Really does not have a handle on "the feel of a room" or "care for others".....

No disrespect but sounds like my wife's dislike for Lou Alcindor who didn't sign an autograph for her in 1972.

Have a special place for Crean. My freshman year we had Deane and then Crean took over soph year. Had a coffee cream and donuts session to meet the students and only a handful showed up. He knew how to pump up the student base. Senior year went to the CUSA tourney in Louisville and stayed at the team hotel. First night there George Thompson invited us over to sit and chat and bought us all a beer. Went to the Louisville bat company and played home run derby in the parking lot with tennis balls. Crean came out holding his daughter and like 5 pizzas he ordered us thanking us for coming out. Remember seeing Wade the first time in the old gym and thought "wow, we don't get guys like this." Maneuvered over to the Big East. The crowd at the BC went from us having tickets in the upper deck where we could move to the bottom to having to get there 2 hours before the game to rush to a good seat. At times getting free donuts from Crean while waiting in that line. Never felt he was standoffish. Always about building the crowd. Sure it was a sales job but man it was a great time to be at MU and see the program rebuild.

Amazing how good Crean was right off the bat as a game analyst. I never like seeing a great game analyst migrate to the studio. I want the best voices on the game, with the exception of the greatest of all, Charles Barkley. Also liked KO on games, and of course, the greatest of all game analysts, Al.
Nothing but gratitude for how Crean elevated the program. What did he stay, nine years? Not many guys stay nine years anywhere anymore. The seven-year Wojo bridge to Shaka was rough but came with an excellent destination, a strong coach who does it his way, the right way, and appears to view this as a destination job.

I still think Crean would be a great fit at a place like DePaul.

DePaul has a fine coach now.
"I am one of those who think the best friend of a nation is he who most faithfully rebukes her for her sins—and he her worst enemy, who, under the specious and popular garb of patriotism, seeks to excuse, palliate, and defend them" - Frederick Douglass

Guess it sounded good to him at the time.

15 years ago maybe. I'm not sure he has the energy to do at DePaul what he did at MU.

Plus, I agree, I think they lucked out with Holtmann.

I think he really does his homework and doesn't mail it in.  On Twitter he's always posting some random non-P5 game he watching and taking notes on.
