Shaka took over at VCU after Grant took the Alabama job. They were both assistants at Florida prior to getting their first HC jobs at VCU. They were both on the NABC BOD together too.

I love that we scheduled Dayton and hope it becomes a longer running series.

For all the jokes about Dayton, it should be an excellent opponent.  They're a good program

Currently with a winning streak against MU.

It should be a hostile atmosphere too. I remember taking the trip in 2003 and it was an intense game.

Clearly a lot of MU fans hate Dayton and vice versa. Why not renew a rivalry? Seems like great scheduling to me.

Any concerns around SOS or "prestige" are overblown to say the least.

As long as Marquette continues to schedule aggressively, I agree.

Wasn't that 2003 game played in Hoffman Estates, Illinois as part of a very short lived, four team doubleheader event??

I think that was 2008?

The '03 game at Dayton was one helluva homecourt whistle.

I was at a Marquette/Dayton game at the UD Arena during the Mike Deane era, 1997 or 1998 I think. It was a Friday night between Christmas and New Years. Marquette ended up squeaking out a win at the end. Very intense game. Hostile environment. Spring came early. About 70 degrees all day and evening.Condensation all over on the floor.

It was at UD Arena. It was the day after Ohio State beat Miami for the national title so Dayton fans were extra fired up. That was a really good Dayton team that ended up ranked 16th and won the A-10. We lost in OT, but the season turned out ok in the end.

They are willing to host...they do a good job at it...the fans show up...it's centrally located.

You should.  I'm usually right and you're usually wrong.

I was at the Chicago Invitational game against Dayton in 2008.  I remember someone jumping over Maurice Acker.

Back when the baby blue jerseys were obviously cursed.

That would be future NBA forward Chris Wright.

Congratulations on finding an action shot of Chris in one of the 32 career NBA games he played in.

There is no evidence that you are an actual Marquette fan.

Sat court side at the 2008 game. Bad game but season was alright.

What I remember about the 2003 game was Dwyane driving baseline for the final shot. Remember Dwyane saying after the game that he would drive middle from now on for the last shot. But that season turned out alright too.
