X played a phenomenal back nine while everybody else spun their wheels.   Well earned and congratulations.

Yep. Rose didn't really lose it. Xander was just too good.

That was one of the easiest looking 65''s I've seen.  Did he even really miss a shot during the round?

Congrats to Xander on his first major victory!
Maybe. But will Creighton and St. John's?
They look like the class of league right now. Have not seen Johnnies play, but Creighton looks awesome.

No Bogeys just so relax and calm

The wind dropped to manageable levels and there was no rain.   Xander golfed his ball.

A pair of Sunday 65's at majors for Xander.

Well, Valhalla was a true Par-67

They knew it wasn't a major they wanted on their resume.  Smart

Justin was  deservedly proud of his performance today. No shame in shooting 67 on the final round of a major and losing to a guy who goes bogey free 65

Justin rose to the occasion.  He burned a lot of edges while Xander was making it rain.

Xander has been an outstanding player for so many years , I actually thought he was older . He is only 30 so positioned well for a long stretch run of peak performance. I think the distance he has added off the tee really helped today

Justin had a lot of folks in his corner. He has not only a great player for a long time but by all reports a quality individual.

Just read on Yahoo Sports that Schauffele became only the 7th golfer to win 2 majors and finish in the top 10 of the other 2 in the same year. The previous 6 to do it: Palmer, Player, Nicklaus, Watson, Woods, Spieth.

So on the one hand, that's some incredible company - 5 of the very best golfers in the history of the sport. On the other hand, it's a cautionary tale. Spieth was gonna be the next all-time great golfer ... until he wasn't.

Set the O/U at 3.5 majors for him.  It's a fascinating argument.  Seems like he should be a lock for the over, however...

Spieth hasn't won one since 2017, Rory since 2014, JT only has 2 and seemed a lock for more.  DJ only has 2 in his career.

Palmer won his first major in 1958 and his last in 1964.  He was only 35 when he won his last.

His game travels.  He's contended at Augusta, at clambakes like Valhalla and now an Open.  Feels like he should hit the over.  We'll see

Agree with all that.

Hey ... what ever happened to DJ? Didn't he used to play golf or something?

I would imagine yes. Since 2019, he's only missed the cut at 2 majors with 10 top 10s in that span (plus the two wins). As you said, his game travels.

Well, if he was gonna settle for mediocrity and irrelevance, he was smart to take the sure $$.
