Also, his wife's family roots in Italy played a factor in that decision.

Here are The Athletic's Summer League awards:

Too Good for Summer League Award: Jaime Jaquez Jr., Summer Heat. Jaquez just participated with the USA Select Team and played in two summer league games. He was clearly way too good to be out there. Honorable mention to Cam Whitmore.

Best Summer League Team Award: The Summer Heat. We don't know if #HeatCulture is dying or just hurting, but #SummerHeatCulture is thriving. Miami plays Memphis in the final.

Worst Summer League Team Award: The Summer Bucks. They went 0-4, lost a game by 41, and had a point differential of minus-88 while in Las Vegas.

Best Lottery Pick Award: Reed Sheppard, Summer Rockets. Even though he went on a cold shooting streak from deep after the first game, he averaged 20 points on 50 percent shooting from the field.

Worst Lottery Pick Award: Alex Sarr, Summer Wizards. The 19-year-old had great defensive moments, but he averaged 5.5 points on 19.1 percent from the field and had an 0-for-15 game. He'll be fine, though.

Best Non-Lottery First-Rounder Award: Kel'el Ware, Summer Heat. He scored, he boarded and he was a physical monster against the young guys.

Best Second-Round Pick Award: Tyler Kolek, Summer Knicks. He ran the show for the Summer Knicks and really moved the ball well.

All-Summer League Squad: Jordan Miller, Jalen Wilson, Reed Sheppard, Scotty Pippen Jr., GG Jackson.

Most Valuable Player Award: Jordan Miller, Summer Clippers. He cooked everybody, dropped 36 in a game, and averaged almost 25 a game on 54 percent shooting.

"Guard against the impostures of pretended patriotism." - George Washington

For what it's worth (very little -it's more of an entertainment and take pod than an analysis pod), One Shining Pod had TKO as a summer league all star point guard.

Had a TK discussion with a friend who is an NBA scout   His focus is Pgs and I commented that I hoped TK would be a good fit and do well. His response was that he would get playing time but that he had an attitude problem. I remarked I hadn't heard that and he said that I wouldn't but it was being discussed at his level. He said Tyler had to realize that he wasn't the top dog on the roster. I was really sorry to hear that and hope this changes, if true.

That's pretty odd.  Hard to believe Tyler would think he's better than Brunson.  I mean really?  What team does your friend scout for?

The Hippie Satan of Hyperbole

Yeah, that story is a bit questionable, but who knows.

Should have stayed in school.  He'll never see an NBA court.  SMDH

TK definitely has an "attitude" but it's not a problem. In fact, it's a big reason he's come this far.

tower912

TKo has always been supremely confident. (F'em)  He played well in the summer league, which I would speculate did nothing to diminish his confidence.   It is easy for me to imagine his confidence being mistaken for arrogance by older, more established teammates.
If he is, Thibs will work it out of him, probably by exposing his defensive limitations.

PGsHeroes32

Yeah put me in the not buying it camp.

If he said it was worried about an attitude problem in college(that went unannounced) thinking he was too good. Yeah, I guess plausible.

But no chance he's thinking he's a top dog stealing minutes from the Knicks starting rotation in year 1. Cmon.

I'm having a hard time believing this.

WellsstreetWanderer

Believe what you want. This is a no nonsense NBA guy who was carrying around a large box with a championship ring last summer. He would have no reason to make this up and I brought Tyler's name up to him. We all want him to prosper in the bigs and I was a disappointed as you to hear this.  Anyway, he says it's being passed around. Maybe it's rival talk   I'm going to think it is

Skatastrophy

Tyler has an attitude but it would be impressive if his attitude is as big as Jimmy Butler's. Thibs managed Jimmy just fine for a lot of years.

What in the world does him having a championship ring have anything to do with his ability to be credible. You have officially vindicated the Houston Astros!!

Also, whatever is being passed around sure as heck wasnt strong enough to stop the Knicks from giving him a big time contract for a 2nd rounder

Sounds like TK takes crap seriously and is emotional which should not be a surprise to anyone. Doubt he expects to start

Holy hell all time

I'm sure a second round draft pick and his poor attitude is the talk of NBA circles.

It's everywhere. Bucks front office threw a party to celebrate not taking him.

Tough GMs, big scouts, coming to them...tears in their eyes saying "sir, you dodged that diva TKO"
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

I'm not disappointed at all because it seems like a crock of poop. There is nothing in his background to suggest he has ever had an attitude problem. Do you think Shaka thinks that way?

Sure he annoys those on the other team because he sh*t talks and is generally annoying, and I can see where a "no nonsense" NBA guy may have a problem with that, but until people associated with the Knicks say he's a problem, I'm not going to think he's a problem.

But the mainstream media never gives them any credit for not taking him.  But that's ok.  They've done more for the Bucks than anyone since Don Nelson.  Many say even more than Don Nelson.

Spotcheck Billy

I think it's just a Celtics-Knicks rivalry POV

#UnleashSean

When your the top dog, its not an attitude. It's being vocal.

Unfortunately Kolek is not the top dog, so its probably an "attitude"

WellsstreetWanderer

Again, this is a rival team so I am not so much concerned. The takeaway I got was that he feels TK is talented enough to play in the NBA and will see minutes.

TallTitan34

Based on Thibodeau's time in Chicago, I think Tyler's attitude is a perfect fit with the coach.

Tom's dislike of rookies (not named Jimmy Butler) is not as good of a fit.
