Shaka seems to have had tremendous relationships with Dr. Lovell and Bill Scholl based on numerous comments he’s made.  I hope this continues with their replacements to facilitate keeping him around for the long haul.

I attended the Wade vs Diener tipoff party last night. I overhead a member of the Athletic Department tell a friend of mine that eleven of the current athletic directors in the ACC have expressed interest in the AD position.

Turmoil in the ACC aside, I am not surprised it is a highly coveted position.  I imagine that Shaka is an AD's dream as far as coaches go - smart, successful guy who runs a squeaky clean program full of highly motivated and intelligent kids, and no real egos to manage.  And you don't have to deal with all the mess that comes with running a football program.

I think at least of few those who have expressed interest are more interested in a pay raise from their current institution.

But for some of them i think you're right and it would be lower stress for similar pay

Ed Kull is primary for MU AD per Fanta

https://x.com/John_Fanta/status/1803166435839008830?t=lJMwhvI8WGBkFVBaj6leuA&s=19

https://x.com/DalyDoseOfHoops/status/1803166993060864370?t=l5h_0ThrV2Rg7IVZ52XAsA&s=19

Kull is well regarded fundraiser which is a major qualification for ADs and MU's level. Bring him in for glad-handing and have Broeker and Josetti as the deputies running the day to day operations for men's and women's sports.

Cragg was on the way out for over two months (just not announced) so it would be shocking if St. John's, a former employer of Kull's in both athletics and on the academic side, and his 2x grad alma mater, hasn't already been in extended contact with him. MU getting him would be a major coup.

I guess the only qualification was someone who can get the Pope in a Marquette basketball jersey?

It seems odd for any respectable AD to want (and to accept) a new job without knowing who the next president is going to be, no?

That is why I think Fanta may have outdated information.

Marquette is pausing the AD search until a new President is named and Scholl is staying on until it's complete.
