Herman Cain

UCLA threw the kitchen sink at Tyler . He still came up with 9 5 and 9. Was there when it counted and never forced it.

Some of the turnovers should have been credited to guys dropping the ball.

He spent most of the game getting mugged.

They played him like Mich St did...need to figure that out.

He did figure it out. He would have had a dozen assists if guys coulda made some shots.

El Guerrero 2

That friggin three he hit was huge. Got lost in the shuffle but it made it a game again. Gritty performance and he didn't play outside of himself which was the difference between tonight and MSU.

I think Shaka's toughest call of the night was when to bring TK back in. You're rolling with the lineup you have out there, but you know you need TK at the end and you don't want to bring him in cold. I might have ridden the hot lineup a few more possessions, but clearly it worked out alright in the end!

They looked like his TO's and I bet if you asked him he'd own them. Apart from that I think you were right on, Herm.

Kolek was the first guy off the bench high fiving guys when UCLA called a TO. Animated and encouraging guys in the huddle. When your best player can turn into your best cheerleader you have something very special!

Tyler once again showing he is all about the team  winning. Doing what ever it takes to win game not worrying about getting his. That attitude from a  team leader is contagious .

Illinois- We need him to score and he put up 24
UCLA- Was mugged all game so put up 9 assists
Kansas- Was part of our energetic swarming defense and came up with 5 steals.

I mentioned it in the game thread last night, but I think we still generally need at least one of TK and Oso on the floor at all times.  There were two segments without them in the second half and we looked disorganized on both sides of the floor. I was surprised Shaka left them both on the bench for the second segment after a timeout.  I love all of the contributions up and down the roster, but those two are still our north stars.

With all the pre-season hype about him, it would be so easy to press and force things to get numbers worthy of the accolades. So impressed Kolek has forced very little and is essentially playing as a complementary player providing whatever is needed at any given time. Truly a special player.
