Found it quite interesting the portion of the article on the fit side of things. It says that Shaka is looking to use multiple ball-handlers and playmakers, which would agree with our 2023 scholarship table. But with that being said I have my concerns about our height within that system. We would have Gold and Oso as our bigs and possibly Al Amadou but he seems fairly skinny. And Gold looks more like a 3-4 with his play style of outside shooting. So having to play against players like Kalkbrenner and Sonogo we will probably struggle just as we have in years past.

Yes.  The roster lacks maulers and 6'7 slashers for the foreseeable future.

Quick, fast and small.  If they get a rebound, fast breaks will happen.  That's if they get a rebound!

Artie is the gold standard for all time MU best dunkers, IMO. I think Burton would have given him a run for his money if he had stayed.

Hope not, D.J. was just as selfish on the court as he was off it.

Please provide evidence that D.J. was selfish off the court.

What about OMax Prosper? He can play big too can't he?

Great piece from Ben Steele this morning- https://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/college/marquette/2022/09/22/marquette-shaka-smart-recruits-tough-2023-guard-boston-tre-norman/10435764002/

So Tre confirms that he did indeed commit back in April and wasn't interested in any other recruiting pitches after that.

I liked this quote from his coach:

Quote"We've had, I don't know, 75 (college) coaches come through in the first two weeks (of September) and they're all like 'Oh my God, did we miss on that one. They're geniuses. They stole him. They should be wearing ski masks.' "

I liked this quote from his coach:

This is how you bring in talent when you're not Duke, UNC, Kansas or Kentucky. You get in on them early, you wow them with your personality and your coaching philosophy, you tell them constantly how perfectly they'll fit the culture (sorry) you're building, etc. You make it so they see Marquette as THE place for them, so that when they blow up and the bluebloods start sniffing around, the athlete says, "Thanks, I'm honored, but Shaka's the guy I want to play for."

Obviously, dozens (probably hundreds) of coaches try similar tactics. But we hired Shaka in great part because he relates so well to these young athletes, because he's so good at communicating his message.

Sounds like we've got a really good prospect here, maybe even a great one. Looking forward to seeing Tre in blue and gold!

If Shaka can coach at 75% of the level that he relates to young athletes, we are in for a great run. I cannot stress enough how big of a fan I am of how Shaka represents himself, the program and the university.

I agree Goose.  He gets great buy-in from the players, and that is a critical quality in a coach.  Buzz's best quality was his ability to get buy-in from his players.  Shaka definitely seems to have a solid plan/approach/blueprint on the types of players he wants to bring to MU and their impact on culture.
