Thought so.  Be a good landing spot for Luke Fickell and Ryan Day combo platter

Miami-Syracuse has gone plaid.

USC-Notre Dame a good one at the Coliseum.

Does today's result mean Ohio St. is likely eliminated from the playoffs?

No.  They need to find 12 teams.  They probably lost a home game, though.

Ryan Day assuming he gets out of stadium alive. Might have to never return.

Brutal. Brutal. Brutal. Loss

The most exciting part of the matchup was the post-game get together. The two teams exchanged their sentiments in an unforgettable manner that will be shown for years into the future.

Quote from: Uncle Rico on November 30, 2024, 04:31:38 PMOhio State probably makes the playoff, still, cuz they need 12 teams.  They'd get in before Indiana because of head-to-head.  If they crap the bed in the playoff opener, I won't be surprised if they just fire him.  Sounds crazy, but 0-4 in the last 4 against Michigan, missing the Big 18 title game again and general hatred by the fans and I don't think it's outlandish.

Ohio State makes it. They have wins against Penn State and Indiana which are better wins than most have.

Right now the ACC and Big 12 are both real close of having one each. Miami has beaten nobody.

It's really wide open honestly.

It may not be a bad idea for OSU to de-emphasize the Michigan rivalry a tad. They play too tight and get fake-tough over stuff like a flag.

Agreed. But that is not happening under Day.

So if Texas holds on it feels to me the field is almost entirely set with 11 of the 12 locked in.

Locks:

Oregon, Penn State, Ohio State and Indiana from Big Ten
Georgia, Texas, Tennessee from SEC
Big 12 Champion
ACC Champion
G5 Champion
Notre Dame

That means one spot left. SMU would get it if they lose to Clemson. If SMU wins, you are probably looking at Alabama, South Carolina, Ole Miss or Miami.

Miami is toast.

My following of college football is very sporadic at best

I just saw the absurdity of the big 12.

ISU needs to win and bye win? But Byu needs to win and Isu lose?

All so they can face ASU a pac 12 after thought?

Maybe just let good teams in if you need 12.

Yeah, I think Ole Miss is too. That probably means Alabama since they beat South Carolina head to head.

Alabama playing at Indiana on December 21 would be surreal.

No one cares. Ratings are going to be huge.

It IS going to be interesting to see how the ratings for the three games on Saturday play out going against the NFL.

The WIAC will no longer be helping Marquette's Cause:

Wartburg (IA) 19 UW-Platteville 14

St. John's (MN) 24 UW-La Crosse 13

That brings the 2024 WIAC season to a close

I'm hoping SMU loses to Clemson, because Alabama, South Carolina and Ole Miss do not deserve to be playing in the tournament.

Big 18 recap.  Many results are good for Marquette's cause:

Oregon 49 Washington 21: Ducks roll to Indy.  Washington's first year under Jedd Fisch was underwhelming.

Indiana 66 Purdue 0: Boilermakrs fired Ryan Walters following this game.  Hoosiers await who they'll lose to in the playoff opener.

Penn State 44 Maryland 7: Maryland finishes 4-8 and no one knows what league they're in.  Nittany Lions will get a chance for a bye to setup an opening round loss to a 2 or 3 loss team.

Notre Dame 49 USC 35:  No one finds more unique ways to lose than Lincoln Riley as USC Head Coach.

Rutgers 41 Michigan State 14: Congrats to Rutgers on winning the Axe Body Spray Trophy.  Spartans first season under Jonathan Smith was uninspiring and attendance dreadful yesterday.

UCLA 20 Fresno State 13: Bruins close out the season with a hard fought win over a bitter, long-time rival.

Illinois 38 Northwestern 26:  A bowl win would get Illinois to 10 wins for only the 4th time in program history.  Badger fans shake their heads.

Iowa 13 Nebraska 10:  Hawkeyes won with 5 first downs.  Nebraska fake tough guyed by not shaking hands before the game.  Clown program

Minnesota 24 Wisconsin 7:  Hurts Marquette's cause

Michigan 13 Ohio State 10: Speaking of fake tough guys, Ohio State and Ryan Day will still go to the playoff and no one will be less thrilled with it than Buckeye fans

Looking forward to another Indiana beat down when they play the second team of any significance in the season in the first round of the playoffs.
