Oregon vs Illinois is uhhh

not competitive

Indiana 8-0. Every win by 14 or more. Won vs Washington behind their back up QB. First D1 team in 20 years to play 8 games without ever being behind. They're pretty good.

I'm no expert but it doesn't look like they've played anyone.  That said they clearly found a good coach.

The Hippie Satan of Hyperbole

Yeah they have had a pretty weak schedule, but winning that dominantly is definitely hat tip worthy.

I don't care for Penn St but hope they win by 3 td's.

Is it customary for UW football to have honorary captains that are felons and domestic abusers?

Yes on the weak schedule, yes on the domination. Nebraska took OSU to the wire today, losing 21-17. Indiana lost their first string QB in the 2nd quarter against that same Nebraska team one week earlier and won 56-7. Maybe doesn't mean a lot, but it means something.

PGsHeroes32

Yeah winning every game convincingly is impressive regardless

Their season comes down to at OSU

Shame its on the road. But lucky they avoid Penn, Oregon and Wisky. So cant be too bad.

Does a 1 loss IU (@OSU) make the playoffs?

I think the computers will answer that.

They'll be in the top 12 after this weekend. Wins at MSU and vs Michigan and Purdue coupled with a loss at OSU likely doesn't cost them in the rankings. So, probably yes.

1. Back in the early 80s, when  Badgers first started to relax academics they had several stereo equipment thieves on the squad.

2. Solid first half

Anyone watching Marcel Reed (back up QB at Texas A*M)? OMG!

PointWarrior

Watching the Badger vs Penn State game.  Penn state has far better skill positions, far better def line, their backup QB is 10x better than Locke.   Other than that the Badgers suck.

In the new era of college football, the Badgers are realistically fighting for 6th place in the B18 as their best possible finish.

They will always be behind OSU, Michigan, Oregon, PSU every year.   Is the recruiting pitch - "come to Wisconsin, we hope to be the best of the other 13 teams in the league?"

I'm a college football casual as it is, and there obviously no selection process precedent for the playoff.

But first thing would likely have to be is the committee willing to take 4 big10 teams
out of the 12

They would obviously not get in over 1 loss Oregon or penn state. And even if OSU loses to penn state or Oregon again. I'm thinking a 2 loss OSU who beat indiana gets in too.

That seems to not be a very accurate statement honestly. It is harder for Wisconsin for sure, but all you have to do is look to see what Indiana is doing this year to show that well coached teams can find the right mix of talent to finish among the top 12 nationwide.

The badgers would likely be undefeated too if they played the same schedule as Indiana.

Some solid results for Marquette's cause in the WIAC yesterday:

UW-Platteville 17 UW-Whitewater 10

UW-Stout 42 UWEC 24

UW-LaCrosse 28 UW-River Falls 24

UWO 42 UWSP 7

In Big 18 news:

1. Michigan State showed a lot of class in a tough loss to big brother, 24-17

2. Nebraska had a huge moral victory against Ohio State yesterday.  Nebraska is BACK

3. Oregon struggled in a close win over Illinois

4. Academically inferior Penn State and the refs beat the Badgers who are knee deep in mid-terms

5. Indiana waxed Washington

6. Iowa's offensive onslaught continued over Northwestern

7. Minnesota poleaxed Maryland who continues to cash those sweet Big 18 checks

8. On Friday, long-time rivals USC and Rutgers matched up in a much anticipated primetime game that sounds like USC won

A few ranked teams got exposed as frauds yesterday, most notably Illinois and Navy.

I recorded and watched the Boise State-UNLV game just to get a look at BSU's ballyhooed RB, Ashton Jeanty.

UNLV committed every defensive resource to stopping him but he still ran for 128 yards. It took him a season-high 33 carries - a 3.9 yard average that was almost a third of the ridiculous 10 ypc average he came in with. He's built like Barry Sanders and has very quick moves, and he's obviously tough. Really took a beating.

UNLV's MLB, Jackson Woodard, reminded me of Luke Kuechly. He was everywhere, and he played a huge role in limiting Jeanty. Not sure where he is on NFL scouts' radar, and I'm also not sure if this was his typical game because I'd not seen 1 second of UNLV football, but he sure looked good.

End of MWC scouting report. You're welcome!

Possibly though I wouldn't say likely. You can only beat the teams you play. Indiana has routed (by 14 or more) all 8 of their opponents. UW, otoh, has been routed (by 13 points or more) by 3 of their 8 opponents. The 2 teams are not comparable.

I havent really caught a gopher game since the opener vs UNC when they looked brutal

But minny playing much better since their big 2nd half comeback came up short vs Michigan.

Will be interesting to see how they play to close out at Ill, vs PSU and at Wisky.

Is Illinois a fraud? Still feels like the 20 to 25th best team.

Yeah idk if that made them frauds.

College football always has a pretty steep drop off from the top to the back end of the top 25 or heck usually into the teens even.

Oregon is a legit top 5 team(at minimum) team in the country. Not crazy that they boat raced a top 25ish team at home.
