Watching the Badger vs Penn State game.  Penn state has far better skill positions, far better def line, their backup QB is 10x better than Locke.   Other than that the Badgers suck.

In the new era of college football, the Badgers are realistically fighting for 6th place in the B18 as their best possible finish.

They will always be behind OSU, Michigan, Oregon, PSU every year.   Is the recruiting pitch - “come to Wisconsin, we hope to be the best of the other 13 teams in the league?”
I think a lot of schools are going to regret the expansion. Perpetual mediocrity does not help the cause raising  donations

They'll be cashing all those eight-figure checks with frowns on their faces.

Is Illinois a fraud? Still feels like the 20 to 25th best team.

Fair enough.

And 25th best is worth at least a Weedeater Bowl trip.

Anyone watching Marcel Reed (back up QB at Texas A*M)? OMG!

Gig em.

Need to not stumble at Auburn and the Cocks. Do that and the return of the Lone Star Showdown is going to be the biggest game of the season

I'm no expert but it doesn't look like they've played anyone.  That said they clearly found a good coach.

Indiana did what I think all lower level/less successful P5 schools should do, and hire an older grinder HC who has won everywhere instead of trying to find a hot assistant that recruits well like more established schools do.

Cignetti won at the D2 level, then FCS, then transitioned JMU from FCS to FBS and won.  Willie Fritz was someone I thought a lot of these schools should look at until Houston dumped a Brinks truck on his doorstep.

Plenty of guys like that but the big boosters don’t want a guy who is in his mid to late 50s who hasn’t been a major level coach.

The badgers would likely be undefeated too if they played the same schedule as Indiana.

Genuinely don’t think they would be.

Agreed. Give a guy his first high major job. Hope it translates. Enjoy 5-10 years of success and hope you can hire someone to keep it going later.

The hot assistant is going to leave after his first good season. Cignetti might too, but I think it’s more likely he sticks around.

I can't argue that point, but who has SMU, Army, Colorado & Mizzu beaten?

Agree on those teams as well.  Mizzou took a beating from Bama :)

I will enjoy some lopsided first round playoff games with these teams

I think only Army has a shot at making the playoff and that's only if they run the table and Boise State stumbles

And running the table may mean beating Navy twice.
