Wonder if this an indication of Shaka's recruiting prowess or more an indication of the crappy image that Wojo-Dukiet put MU in for prospective recruits from MU's backyard. The 2022 recruiting class for Shaka is really crucial.

It is not an indication of anything. It's recruiting. Win some, lose more. That is how it works.

Uncle Rico is disappointed that you still haven't come up with a nickname for Shaka.

So Shaka's recruiting misses are Wojo's fault now?
Slurper...
Goal is National Championship

Thank you. Hope that Shaka starts winning some from 2022 class soon.

I'm shaken, but not stirred about this one.

We R Final Four

My only complaint on this one was SS telling Bond he could be the "hometown hero" if he came to MU.
A lot of kids don't want to hear that....and subsequently go elsewhere.

Or that's something that mattered to him and a major reason why he considered MU. Shaka has been doing this awhile, I trust he knows what's important to a recruit he spent this much time on.

We R Final Four

Didn't seem to matter all that much....if at all.
And perhaps it was pressure that he didn't want.
Doubt we'll ever know.

Or Shaka played a card that Bennett could not. When its a local coach in the midst of a total rebuild vs. a coach with a recent natty and a major ACC team, blaming Shaka as some scoopers have is disingenuous. I also suspect that Shaka's identifying Bond as a priority was just to stroke Bond's ego.

Wild horses couldn't drag me into either political party, but for very different reasons.

Bond was absolutely a priority. UVA won out.

100%. That said, it's hard to get local kids to stay local. It's an uphill battle for sure--part of going to college is getting out on your own for the first time. Playing 30 minutes down the street doesn't have that appeal.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

Move on, gang.

The young man did what he thought was right for him. With this world of transfers, if Marquette was the right answer, maybe we will see him a year from now.

Either way, I can't say I blame him. Virginia is an ACC school that has a recent natty. We have a new coach, a new system and unknown prognosis. Our coach is well respected but he's yet to coach a single minute in the Big East. If I was a recruit, I might like and respect Shaka, but I would be leery until I saw the product on the floor.

With Bennett, what you see is what you get. With Shaka, you're betting at the margin this year.

Moser would had the kid signed, sealed and delivered. We undoubtedly hired the wrong coach.

It's disappointing that it is a local recruit that seems to be very talented that we made a high priority.

I think I was more disappointed when I thought Shaka was the first to pursue him really hard and UVA came in later. After hearing that they were on him for 2 years, I'm pretty impressed Shaka got this close with him.

Honestly, recruiting is on the lower end of my worries and trust Shaka will get talent here. I'm much more interested how this team gels and progresses through the season.

I think we have a nice (albeit young) core. If Shaka can coach them up and they improve as the year goes on, a "slow" recruiting start won't really worry me.

Is it bad if I say who? Hope Shaka gets me interested enough to follow recruiting closely again. Haven't been this disconnected to Marquette hoops since before I went to Marquette.

Speaking of wide net, has anyone noticed how many offers Virginia Tech has put out?  According to 247, they have 75 offers outstanding for the class of 22.

Maybe our problem is the relative lack of offers Shaka has made
