I feel bad for the little old ladies walking their dogs who are attacked by gators.   Or toddlers visiting Disney World.   Florida man wrestling gators on purpose who loses?   Less so.  It was their choice to go in the alligator pen.

So if your Mom smoked or was obese and your Dad didn't/wasn't you wouldn't mourn your Mom as much because she "chose her fate"? A hell of a lot of death can be attributed to people's poor choices. Are you dismissive of all of them?

The vast majority of the people who died from Covid had co- morbidities, many circumstantial but also many a result of their own poor choices. Given the way you feel about people who make poor choices, why mourn any of them?

My grandfather, long ago, had type 2 diabetes due to obesity. His doctors told him to modify his diet to start getting his weight under control and he refused. He passed away at ~55 years old, about 1 year after he retired, after having had multiple medical events all related to his obesity and diabetes.

His kids and wife all mourn him, and they are all deeply frustrated with him that he wasn't willing to do even the bare minimum to keep himself alive and with the family. Both positive and negative emotions are associated with the guy. We love him and he's lovely and he's also a selfish jerk that loved bacon too much to give it up.

And diabetes/obesity isn't communicable so he did not kill a bunch of people due to his choices.

My grandpa lived for bacon and he died for bacon. You've got to respect it.

Bacon is worth dying for.  Dying to prove a point to the "woke mob" is colossally stupid.  I suppose it thins the herd, so that's good

So if your Mom (or any loved one) smoked or was obese you'd mourn her less. Fair enough.

My brother couldn't stop drinking and killed himself. I mourn him even more than if he died of natural causes.

Not saying you're wrong - we just look at it differently.

Why?

Because I can only imagine the pain he was in at/near the end of his life.

But I had a friend who asked me afterwards if I was mad at my brother. I didn't get it then any more than I get you on the subject but there you go.

We don't get each other on a host of subjects.

Working out just as it's supposed to.

"The vaccine essentially takes hospitalization and death off the table even if you are one of the unlucky 5-28% who could be infected after full vaccination. If I told you to buy a lottery ticket for tonight's drawing since you would have a 72-95% chance of winning the jackpot, everyone would run to the corner gas station with dollars in hand. So, what's the big deal? Those who are still skeptical or fearful can remain that way and don't have to change. But, let the rest of us carry on as we did pre-March 2020. Follow the science because its real, hey?"

Amazing what non-stop disinformation can do to a mind, hey?

It's working out extremely well for tower. He's not dead, unlike so many anti-vaxxers - many of whom spent their last hours on earth crying in regret that they were so stupid to reject a life-saving vaccine.

That your hero is now afraid to promote his work pushing Operation Warp Speed, arguably his most important (positive) accomplishment as president - and that you have flipped from "look what my president did" to "how's that workin' out for ya, hey?" - tells us all we need to know about how screwy our country is.
