I don't know, I feel he's in the a very similar spot if he stayed at MU. The big thing for him was going to Boston where he could fill a niche need for a strong organization.

Actually it doesn’t “prove” anything.

Hauser averaged 0.6 more FGA  per game as a Virginia 5th-year senior than he got as a junior at Marquette. With Joey gone, and with Markus the focus of every defense, Sam very well might have gotten more shots and better looks as a Marquette senior.

The little bit of postseason exposure he got at Va sure didn’t help him - he was horrible in a huge upset loss to Ohio.

Plus, he’d have been a year younger coming out of college had he stayed at Marquette.

Anyhoo … good for Sam. With his shooting ability, I’m not the least bit surprised he’s found NBA success.

Correct. And who is willing to go deep into luxury tax territory to keep him.

If he was just happier at UVa, well good for him. But his year there did nothing for his current situation. He was undrafted.

Yep. Here’s a little more from an Hawks fan site:

With this Exhibit 10 contract, should Hauser make the team out of training camp, it will pay him either the equivalent of an unguaranteed minimum contract in 2024-25 or his deal can get unilaterally converted into a two-way contract (something that would require waiving one of Seth Lundy, Keaton Wallace or Dominick Barlow).

Most likely, however, Hauser will be waived prior to opening day. He can earn a small bonus should he join the College Park Skyhawks for a short period of time after that point.
