Ruud is a better clay court player.

For sure. But blowing the first tiebreak up 4-0 and losing a very winnable 3rd set was tough. Too many unforced errors/dumb decisions. Then once the groin started acting up it was done.

Wow....two big upsets in the women's draw.  Andreeva just turned 17.

Big day for Coco.  The court is playing faster than normal which should be to her advantage.  She's spraying way too many unforced errors early.  I think she can control the points without trying to hit the cover off the ball.

Very disappointing performance by Gauff.  She has the game but she has to play a cleaner match.  Way too many unforced errors.  I think on clay she simply has to be more patient and not always go full throttle.  More first serves and more variety from the baseline.  She has way more power, it's about knowing when to unload.

Huge match between Sinner/Alcaraz at the French O.  Two electrifying players that will lead men''s tennis into the post B3 era.   I give Sinner a very, very, slight edge.  Hope I'm wrong.

Alcaraz with a brutal start.  Sinner is ridiculously precise and consistent with a lot of effortless power.

It's beyond idiotic why they don't have electronic line calling on clay.  Gauff was 100% correct yesterday.

Alcaraz played a beautiful last 3 sets. I love the imagination and energy with which he plays.

I wish I could have seen the last two sets.  Alcaraz is VERY cool.  Tremendous variety and flair to his game.  Imagine how incompetent you must be to have Nadal play Zverev in the 1st round of this tournament?  I'm not saying Rafa would have made a deep run but that decision was beyond inexcusable.

You realize Rafa was unseeded and is currently ranked about 300th in the world?  If Zverev had faced Kimmer Copperjeans instead, you wouldn't have seen anything out of place.  Well he's currently ranked 10 spots higher than Rafa.

Yeah. I’m sure Rafa is much better than 300 if fully healthy but he can’t get healthy. He

They need to show a scintilla of respect for a man who won 14 times there. Slotting him in the 1st round against a top 5 player is egregious imo.  The guy was 114-3 there.  I'd like to have a little chat with the genius who made up the draw.  :)

Iga is just too good on clay.  I could definitely see her catching Chris Evert's 7 at Roland Garros.  Gauff has the game to beat her there but will have to be more consistent and better tactically.

I hope Alcaraz pulls this off.  Zverev has ridiculous pop on his serve and groundies.

Ughhhhhhhhhh.  Brutal service game for Alcaraz when he could have closed the 3rd set. Total lack of focus and very surprising.

Wow, just wow.  That overrule was incredible.  I would be furious if I was Zverev.  You have the freaking technology, use it.  Every of GS event uses video for line calls.  It's beyond absurd the French Open does not.

Congrats to Alcaraz.  The kid is amazing and I don't think he had his best stuff.  3/4 GS surface wins at 21 doesn't suck.  You do have to feel for Zverev.  I'm not saying he would have won but that call was enormous.

Both competitors were very tired, but Alcaraz was able to summon some inner energy to finish strong.

Remarkable tennis player who has all the shots, as well as tremendous charisma. The only thing that can stop him from becoming an all-time great is burnout.
