I'd say the thought that we finish third is more unlikely than us getting to the 2nd weekend. We're the type of team that can certainly string together 2 strong shooting games in a row in the tourney. Finishing ahead of Creighton, Seton Hall or Xavier? I don't know about that, but I appreciate the optimism.
Not optimism just like to go out there, but has calmed down a bit. He used to be way out there.

Initially confused.  But are you saying there might be something besides the injury and that Mullin is giving Lovett a graceful exit?

Maybe. The injury supposedly wasnt that serious a few weeks ago. Now he's done for the season.  That does happen, diagnosises get updated. It just makes me wonder especially with a kid who airway missed a season due to academics

My first thought when all the disconnect between the family and staff came out was that a transfer might be coming. Seems like everyone involved wants different things.

Xavier has been riding thin ice so far in big east play it?s only a matter of time till it comes crashing down. I think fourth.

I agree - they've been shaky and aren't a top 10 team nationally. They're maybe a top 15, definitely a top 25. I think they'll finish with 10-11 wins, ahead of us at 9-10 wins. They're a veteran team with some strong assets, good chance they'll start playing better.

Xavier has 3 losses this year.  One at Providence where a lot of good teams are going to lose.  One at the best team in the country where everyone will lose.  And one on a neutral court to an Arizona State team that was beating everyone when they played them/has only 2 losses themselves.  When your worst loss is at Providence, you don't really have a bad loss at all.

They smoked up a very good Cinci team, smoked up a decent Baylor team, won at Marquette, absolutely smoked a Colorado team that just beat Arizona and Arizona State, beat Butler at home, and won at a solid mid major in UNI.

They have earned the ranking they have.

This.  Xavier is really good.  I watch a lot of college hoops.  I've seen every top 25 team play multiple times.  I am very hard pressed to list 5 teams that I think are better than X. They are a legit top 10 that could win the whole thing.

Winning road games is very hard in every league, but especially the Big East.  X is not overrated.

Yes but what is that ranking?

Last week some pointed out they may be overrated at 5 while other defended it.

Now they are 10th but have added another loss(granted to the best team...granted by 24)

So what's the ranking they have so far earned.

I personally think of them as very good team that's top 15 at worst and probably about 10-12

/FIXED...../FIXED...../FIXED...../FIXED...../FIXED...../FIXED...../FIXED...../FIXED...../FIXED.....

You have had THREE very public and far reaching dreams

1) 2015: Henry Ellenson wins the Naismith College Player of the Year his senior season
2) 2016: Riding Kostas to 4 straight NCAA championships
3) 2017: This year's team goes to the 2nd weekend

Starting to think your 2017 dream isn't so far reaching.  Change of diet?  Different hallucinogens?

Did you just call UNI who is 0-5 in the MVC solid? Lmao Wades this isn?t exactly the UNI team that beat Kansas

Colorado isn?t a bad win but they?ve been super bipolar and are 10-7

Cinci Baylor and ASU I?ll give you.

In Big East play they?ve looked very pedestrian though. Against us, Depaul, Nova, and Butler. And for a team that is supposed to be as good as they are I expected more.

Maybe I'm caught up in a what-have-you-done-for-me-lately mentality, but they've promptly fallen to the second tier of the conference efficiency map

So I assume you're also down on Michigan State (lost @ OSU, beat Rutgers in OT at home), Texas Tech (loss @ Oklahoma), Duke (recent losses @ BC and @ NCST)?

Those are 10 team teams too...teams lose games on the road in conference season.  Its what happens, especially when the parity is significant as it is this year.

You're right on UNI.  I guess I simply stopped following them after the Xavier loss, and to that point their 3 losses were Xavier, UNC, and Iowa State and they had wins over SMU, NC State, and UNLV.

They're 3-2 in the BE and they've played at home vs. Butler and DePaul and on the road against Providence, Nova, and MU.  They're probably right around where a top 10-15 team should be with that starting schedule, maybe 1 game worse.

I?m not arguing the record. I just don?t think they looked impressive in those wins (or losses for that matter) like we looked impressive against seton hall, they looked like they escaped us Depaul and butler. But different strokes for different folks I suppose.

Our win against the Hall was impressive; just like Butler's win against Nova. I guess will find out how impressive our game was after the game tomorrow.

Funny you say that because @depaul is the one that scares me the most. Seems like we never get easy away wins versus them.

The majority of the crowd in their house are Marquette fans and that always pisses the DePaul team off and gets 'em motivated (to shut us up).
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Nah man, I feel you on the fact that conference play is a drag and super competitive, but look at the efficiency maps. Xavier would be a Tier 2 team in all of those conferences.
