What is our highest possible seed?
« on: March 04, 2017, 03:50:14 PM »
So we have Seton Hall Thursday, and if we win we'll likely play Villanova. Hypothetically, if we win the BET what do you think our NCAA Tournament  seed would be?

We're rolling. I could see this team getting a 7 seed. May need to beat Nova again to get it, but I'm not so sure. Beat SHU and I don't see us less than 9, probably an 8.
I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

I think 7, though we may already be there on the strength of top-50 wins. My expectation is the 8/9 game.

My recollection is that seeding doesn't change much in the tournaments.  So no way we get a five.  Maybe 7.  Lose on Thursday and if other things happen, we might be playing in Dayton.

I can't remember specific conferences/teams, but there have been years where a bubble team runs the table in a major conference tourney and gets something crazy like a 4 or 5.

We are no longer just a bubble team, so if we run the table I'd be shocked if we aren't around a 4 or 5.

Absolutely ZERO chance this team plays in dayton. Happy to take any wager you'd like.

No I think you are probably right.

I think only Be team not safe from Dayton at this point is X. Beat Depaul, lose to Butler. Think they may still be in dayton. Which is crazy.

depends on how some other stuff shakes out, but there's a pretty clear cut that X is still well inside of. 7 BE teams a lock w an X win on Wednesday.
I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

If Creighton loses first round of the BE tourney I don't think they'll make it.  5-7 since their PG went down.  Similar situations have kept other teams out in the past.

Win the BET, looking at a 6 seed. Odds are that's two wins over Nova.

Creighton will be around a 7 to 9 seed.

Creighton isn't getting left out with 23 wins. Not happening.

Much rather be a 10, then an 8/9. As long as they avoid Dayton..

Beat SHU - Nova - Butler handedly in BET, and committee is going to give that a protected seed, so without looking at any of the projected 3s-4s-5s, I'd say MU's ceiling is a 4 seed at this point.
Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

What seed did Seton Hall get last year?

If we run the table, we would have 10 wins over top 50 teams,  and two wins over a Villanova team that most people think deserves a 1 seed.  And we would be on a major roll.

I doubt we get past Villanova and Butler, but if it happened, I could easily see a 4.

Agreed. Winning the BET wouldn't get us into the 16-20 range in AP polling, which is where a 4 seed typically sits...

I don't recall, and I did not say it happens every year. But a BE title would give us 10 wins against top 50 opponents, and two wins against a clear top – five team in Villanova.  I have a hard time believing that 20 teams would have a better resume overall than that.
