Wouldn't a UWM win also help Marquette in that they would be guaranteed to be in the play-in game, so then they would be forced to put 2 (16) seeds in Dayton and only have room for 2 at large bids, moving Marquette even farther up the bubble?

I'm not following the logic here.  Nevertheless, Cheebs is right... there will be 8 teams (4 games) in Dayton next week.  Two 16's will emerge to play a #1, and the other two will emerge (most likely) with an 11 or 12 seed.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

Simply, no. Milwaukee winning would help our RPI more than Northern Kentucky winning, but it's a fairly marginal difference (Milwaukee's resume makes up 0.05% of our RPI while NKU has no impact at all) but if you're looking for a reason to cheer, there you go ;)

Other games that fit the "marginal difference" include...

    • Nebraska-Omaha over South Dakota State
    • Wake Forest over Boston College (I'm still cheering for BC)
    • Florida A&M over South Carolina State
    • Jackson State over Southern
    • Prairie View A&M over Grambling
    • Southern Utah over Montana State
Bear in mind, when I say marginal, it's minimal at best. I think the biggest difference here is 0.05% of our RPI, and the smallest if the 0.01% difference between PVAMU and Grambling.

Sorry, brain fart on my part forgetting that the "Last 4 in" is only half of Dayton not all of it

UWM winning would have no effect on Marquette. The breakdown is always four conference champions and 4 at large.

Well...it has an affect on our RPI, though minimally because Milwaukee played DePaul (opponent's opponents).

Update Bump. There's a plethora of intriguing matchups today. For my money, Cuse v Miami and Georgetown v Johnnies are the most important. Cuse gets real close to lock status with a good win away from home. Hoyas drop out of the RPI top-100 with a loss.

    Jefe... what is a plethora?

An excessive amount. Particularly during the day which will kill the little productivity I've had at work the last 2 weeks. Thank God my boss is on vaca for the next 2 weeks.

Update bump. Today might be the best CBB day of the year after the first Thursday of the Tourney. Good (important) games for 12 straight hours.

One small correction. Howard plays the Norfolk State fighting Kyle O'Quinns. They beat Morgan State yesterday.

    brewcity77

All that talk about Milwaukee getting in with 23 losses, Howard is 2 wins away from doing just that. They played Norfolk State tough two weeks ago on the road (had a second half lead before falling by 8), and in the final would either face a Maryland-Eastern Shore team that they swept or (more likely) a NC-Central team that they had a late lead on before falling by 7.

Of course, now that I've given them a chance, they'll probably get drubbed by NSU today ;D

Michigan might've just been robbed. Scored to tie the game with Purdue at 66 with 4 seconds to play, then stole the inbound clean but the refs blew whistles to check the clock. Would've been an uncontested layup. Now headed to overtime.

Meanwhile, SMU puked up a massive lead against East Carolina, was tied with under a minute to play at 77, but escaped thanks to Semi Ojeleye icing it at the line. Dayton lost to Davidson, meaning there will almost certainly be a potential bid thief in the A-10 final as Davidson has advanced to play the URI/St. Bonaventure winner.

Middle Tennessee is up big in the second half, they should be okay (thought I thought SMU was safe too).

I like VCU's draw for the A10 tournament, especially if the Bonnies lose today. I think they still have a really good shot to win the A10 and prevent a bid thief.

    Michigan wins against Purdue.

    That helps

TBW is coming to an end, but still some good action today. We already dropped the first one however. Don't think Georgia will sneak back into the top 50.

The important games have gone in our favor today. URI, VCU, SMU, Cincy, Kentucky, and Nevada killed potential bid thieves. Just need Middle Tennessee to beat Marshall.

Wisconsin and Michigan helped our RPI, granted Penn and Albany didn't play along, but that's okay. Good day.

Frankly, the whole week has really gone MU's way. Other than Vandy, no real runs from the other bubble teams and almost no bid thieves.
