Love at first sight with Mrs. Goose and first date was at The Gym Bar nearly 32 years ago. Still going strong and still the MU bars from to time.

Met my wife at the Ardmore. After about 8 beers I rolled in hot. Told her I was going to be a fighter pilot and she laughed. Hysterically.

Took a while but she finally went out with me. Married at Gesu by Fr. Corbett Walsh with 9 of 10 attendants being Marquette  folks.

In an ironic twist she ended up being the one who pinned on my wings at Vance AFB. I still have those wings.

Chick

You wore white??

Oh, keefer.  One would think that someone of your alleged wit could come up with a better joke than that.
Have some patience, FFS.

In response to a similar solicitation around 5 years from the Alum Mag, I posted our (me and Mrs. Legs) story of our first meeting the first week of school, now 35 year ago.  We stopped by that spot - Wisconsin Ave just east of McCormick - a couple of weeks ago, with five of our friends who were with us that day too.  How can you not love MU?

Notwithstanding some changes to the surroundings, it still was very familiar.  Next time, when McCormick is gone (along with the Jes Res), I'm guessing not so much.

My wife and I met at MU in the fall of 1970. We dated for awhile and while I was love she wasn't. She married another MU guy in 1973, I married someone from St. Francis (Pa.) in 1974. But we stayed in touch. I got divorced in 1990, her husband died in 1994, we almost reconnected in 1996 but didn't. Finally, in 2006, I left my job in NYC and moved to Erie. Thirty-six years after our first date, we got married. We still are, 10 years later. I hav e bought her eight different pairs of MU socks and she wears a different pair every time MU plays.

Great story and sincere congratulations on the Alumni Award!

Actually, that is a great pic of you two.

Great story on how you met your wife at MU. Have enjoyed reading the kind things you have said about her over the years. Sounds like she was a real find.

Fr. Walsh was one of the best and NO better friend of the program than he was. Others may have tied him or close but Corbie was a true friend to the program and groupies like me.

Great story and sincere congratulations on the Alumni Award!

Thanks. It is an award she richly deserves. She has dealt with a lot of loss in her life and bounced back remarkably well.
