I have been thinking about and have been hoping for a starting lineup change from Wojo for the last few weeks.  Either Hauser or Cheatham need to be replaced by Katin or Wilson.  I think Hauser after a hot start to the year has been struggling in general and Cheatham has lost confidence and is not a threat offensively.  Hopefully a change is made today.

Starting no matta.

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

TAMU is right. Everyone plays. He sticks with who is hot at the end.

#UnleashSean

I like the sticking with who is hot. But our first 5 minutes are alwayd weak.

Big Papi

Of course it does.  The talk of it doesn't matter who starts but who finishes games and it doesn't matter who starts is coach talk and rubbish.

It is about continuity, fit and what is best for the team.  It is crunch time.  Start with the best 5 that give you the best chance to win.  At this point in time Katin and Wilson are better then both Hauser and Cheatham.  One if not both should be starting and playing extended minutes.

It no matta in the same way that FTs no matta. Sure it mattas a little. But not by any statistical amount.

The minutes find the hot player.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

It absolutely doesn't matter. Any coach is going to basically stick with rotations early on.

Your right Doc.  Digging holes early on is exactly what we should be doing while our "deep bench full of scorers" sit on the pine.

Wojo needs to figure things out in a hurry and shake things up because this team is LOST!!!

Thus we have lost 4 of the last 5. Keep the same formula and the losses will continue to pile up. DW should start for sure.

GGGG

I will point out that the "second string" was largely on the floor when Georgetown went on their run at the end of the first half.

Who starts is absolutely irrelevant.

Afroman

That's silly. Duane wasn't recruited by the current coach. No way he starts or gets an increase in minutes.

tower912

Ready for Duane to replace JJ.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

Earl Tatum

Yep, I don't see JJJ mixing it up under the basket on defense. HC and
JJJ are letting the team down. No confidence. Luke can't rebound alone,
if gets into foul trouble, we are sunk. Probably why he plays soft at times.
Thought Matt would be a factor by now. He isn't.

Earl Tatum

At times this team looks pathetic and I thought Dukiet and Mike Deane's
teams were bad.

Really? Then perhaps you have never played organized sports.

I will point out that with the on-going starting lineup, we quickly fell behind and it wasn't until Wilson, Katin and Rowsey came into the game that we even made a run at Georgetown.  Hard to compete when you are down early and often.  You fight so hard to get close and then the door gets slammed in your face and you are fighting to keep the deficit to single digits.  Makes it all the harder.

Would it have ultimately made a difference today?  You are correct, Georgetown kicked our butts up and down the court all game long that it probably didn't matter.  We were clearly outmatched from top to bottom but I didn't expect us to lose by 18 against a 4-8 conference opponent that we beat earlier this year.  JT3 made the adjustments.  Wojo did not.  Obviously the same old, same old is NOT working.

And I don't mind changes in the line-up because I think it is about more who plays well together versus who starts.  I thought the best combination today was Duane, Rowsey, JJJ and Luke.  Add Katin or Sam in there, and that is who I would give the most minutes to.  If Wojo wants to make changes just to shake things up, I am fine with that.

But I paid attention to this today because this thread started just before the game.  When the first group went off the floor, MU was down 7-4.  Sure that is a deficit, but hardly a substantial one.  Basketball games are marathons.  Not sprints.

Facts are scary

Trigger warning:
Luke and Cheatham should no longer be starting.

You are correct that it was hardly a deficit but it is still a deficit on the road.  I think if you start out strong, you set the tone for the rest of the game.  It just seemed like we were out of it from the get go and playing catch up all game long.  Did we even have a lead?

The team is struggling.  Cheatham and Hauser are struggling.  Katin, Wilson and Rowsey have been playing fairly well for the most part.  i don't know, it seems like a no brainer to shake things up a bit.

TAMU, Knower of Ball

I have changed my tune on this. Starting still no matta. But roster shakeups can be an effective coaching technique.

We did have a lead.  Sam hit a shot to put us up 2-0.

But I do agree with shaking things up.  Knocking people out of their roles.
