February, 1974. Milwaukee Arena. Marquette coach Al McGuire leaps on top of the scorer's table and celebrates after Maurice Lucas hit a ridiculous last second jump shot to give the Warriors a one point victory over Wisconsin. In the stands almost directly opposite McGuire is Glenn Hughes, father of Kim and Kerry Hughes, Wisconsin's "Twin Towers of Power". Walking in the foreground is dejected Badger Coach, John Powless. Marquette went on to the NCAA tournament and finished second overall.

Notice Mr. Hughes "salute" to Mr. McGuire.  Hank's reaction is priceless too.

Does it also remind you of 11 more ncaa tournament wins in the last 3 years? 11

Not really.  It reminds me of Bo Ryan ready to climax, but he dribbles down his leg and leaves his partner unsatisfied.

Despite the last three years, is Wisconsin-madison still trailing Marquette in NCAA tournament wins?

Yup.

Does MU still have a 20+ NCAA games played in lead?  Yup.

Yes ... more of that obsessive comparison of Bucky to MU.  Inferiority runs wide and deep.

You are so lazy.

You started the fucking thread! How can you talk about anyone else being obsessive. Get help.

Actually, no similarity to this game at all. MU never led vs UW until #20's buzzer beater, ai na?

It SHOULD remind us all only one of the two schools won a National Championship since the invention of the color television.

TAMU, Knower of Ball

Didn't Heisenberg start a thread about this picture a month or two ago because something reminded him of it? Honestly don't remember if it was him but since he starts hall the threads on here I figured it was a good chance it him.

Actually I started 3 or 4 threads with this picture in it.  And I will probably start more with this picture in the future as well.  Probably in December when we play Bucky again (or I might refresh one of the older ones to put it at the top).

No, it reminds me of the fact that there is no color film available of the only NCAA title the Badgers ever won. And there are no more than a handful of UW alumni alive who remember that title.

Man, how I love that picture! A real classic with old man Hughes flipping the bird to Al as he is in the face of Bucky. Sigh. Sure wish those days returned, but alas, they likely never will.
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind.

JS, as always, pretending everyone loves the Badgers as much as they do, with their stupid poll question - feel free to insert your own 5th option for response, I added mine below -

Poll
What was your immediate reaction to Wisconsin's exit from the NCAA Tournament?
acceptance
anger
disappointment
frustration
couldn't be sweeter happening to a bigger crybaby fanbase - check!
