judging from some of the video on him, he can shot from outside....not that we'd expect him to or want him to, but good to know he has the ability.  Reel him in Wojo.

UDPride is the toughest message board to view and that's before you actually read the comments. Instant eye-strain. I guess their members don't care. Makes one appreciate Scoop.

If MU were to get both players mentioned, Wojo should be satisfied and focus on 2 for 2018.  A grad transfer would be overkill and would cause roster issues.

Meh. Disagree. Use your scholarships.

A legit scoring SF would be ideal (assuming we get Froling). Think a Rodney Pryor or Shonn Miller type.  Someone who can slash and shoot.  Wojo will be able to shoot for the top tier guys, and if you miss out, bank the scholarship for 18, or grab a role player C grad transfer.  While we'll have front court options for 17 (Heldt, Froling, John, Eke), none are very experienced and having a C to eat up 15 minutes and be rim protector and rebounded would be nice.

If we don't get Froling, we still badly need a body in the front court.
I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

Never got the 'let's sticky 9 years worth of game threads to the top of the board' mentality.

Freshman has played one semester. I have watched him a ton this year. Love him. Knock on him was he came in a little out of shape, but the kid has a lot of potential. Has flashed some good post moves, and I think he can put it all together sooner, rather than later. He's kind of like Kavanaugh right now - where he either looks good or looks totally uncoordinated depending on the possession, but his potential is far superior to Matt's. He can do things now on a basketball court that Kavs never could. Let's open the recruiting pipeline to Australia and get this kid here. Froling is highly coveted but his younger brother is supposedly even better. A lot to like. I'll be first in line for the Harry Froling fan club!

So this is all a ploy to get the younger brother again, makes sense.

So you tell Sam Hauser he isn't good enough at the small forward or you tell Jamal Cain he isn't good enough to get minutes?

Yes, we need a body and Froling might be the one we need.  Get to 12 scholarships with Froling and Elliott with sitting out until next December.  Maybe you redshirt one of the incoming freshman and play with 11 players in December.  Then add Joey Hauser and a guard to Bailey in 2018 and you have your 13.  Slam dunk.

If Froling were to come, that gives MU Heldt, Froling, John, and Eke, none of whom project as a stretch 4.    I am OK with Sam and Cain playing the 3 and Haanif playing the two.    However, this would be the end of the 4-out/1-in offense.   Also, another situation like Luke's, where MU only gets 2.5 years (at best) from him.    I'm conflicted.

No. I think Sam Hauser will still get plenty of minutes at the 3, and the 4 when we play small.  I don't think redshirting a guy like Eke would be a bad idea at all.  Or a guy like Elliot if we land him.  I just like using your scholorships, and having too much talent is a good problem to have.  If it makes a guy like Sandy or Traci transfer because they know they're not good enough - so what?  Sam Hauser will get plenty of minutes.

I think Froling is more of a stretch 4 than a traditional 5.  He'd probably play the 5 when he is in (assuming Heldt isn't also in the game) due to roster construction, but I think he is pretty much the definition of a stretch 4.

He's listed as a small forward on 247... not sure if misattribution on their part, or wishful thinking on his...

More like Henry.  Face the basket type of player, not back to the basket but I am sure he can do that to.  Can shoot the 3.  If he is serious about hoops, then MU
and the Big East would be better for him then OSt. for sure.

Was just typing the same thing.  Froling had a leg injury that set him back and left him out of shape this year.  He is leaving SMU largely, because their new coaches offense is not designed for a stretch 4 and he will/is being forced to play a true 5.

Froling is closer to a HE than a Fischer/Heldt.

Kind of funny, if you combine Samson and Harry you would have a phenomenal prospect.  The knock on Harry is that he is a bit heavy and out of shape, and not the best defender.  The knock on Samson is that he is too thin, but is a very solid defender at the rim.

Combine them and you have a solidly built near 7', rim defender that can step out and knock down the 3 and can take their defender off the bounce.

I worry about the reports on his footspeed, lateral quickness and weight.    Trying to picture a slow 260 lb stretch 4.   May my fears be unfounded and the crow taste like chicken.

My guess is he'll be in much better shape by the next time he hits the floor, especially if he is at MU.
