Doc,

You are being too kind. I would use other choice words in response to that post.

There may be a redshirt here and there.....I would be shocked if its  Michael.

Maybe I'm mistaken then, but I was under the impression that was why Phillips reclassified back to the 2025 class. Figured Shaka swayed him with the "wouldn't you rather practice against NBA athletes to-be rather than high schoolers" line, so he'd still end up in the 2026 class but be even better with a year of college development under his belt.

I wouldn't mind seeing him on the floor right away at all, but five incoming freshmen is a lot. They and Al Amadou will all be on the bench competing for very limited minutes. So it simply makes sense to me that Shaka will redshirt someone, and Phillips seems the likeliest choice given his original reclass. But who knows for sure.

Shaka is watching Nigel James play tonight against the Boozer twins.......its on the NBA App......

James is playing great.........doing a bit of everything other than shooting 3s.......very quick....very athletic.....threw down a lob dunk and had a volleyball spike blocked shot ala Dominic James against the Badgers.

I haven't seen many of his games but considering the competition this is the best I've seen him play......Shaka has to be loving this performance through 3 quarters.

He has 10 points and has contributed all over the court.....playing with great energy.

GoldenEagles03

Seems like Nigel impacts the game in a lot of different ways. He's good at every part of the game a PG can be good at.

What a huge pickup by Shaka.

same was being said of Tre two yrs back. You feel Nigel is a level up?

As a PG?  Yes, pretty easily.

Tre is more of a combo guard that played PG. Nigel is a true PG that can get to the basket.

FWIW, I also think Tre can still be very good. Just not his role yet.

And neither one can shoot.

There's a lot to like about Nigel's game but I'm definitely taking a wait and see approach. It's really hard for a small guard who can't hit from three. Sean got dared to shoot last year before the injury.

If anyone wonders why Rocket always panics about people doxxing him...it's because he will do it to others without a second thought and assumes that others are the same way.

And neither can Sean, so 3 for 3 in that department. Just another reason Shaka has zero concerns about the position for next season. According to to Scoop, anyway.

Shaka wouldn't know a point guard if Tyler Kolek (conference freshman of the year as an off ball guard) or Kam Jones (bucket getter as an off ball guard for 3 years) walked into his gym.

If there's one thing I know about Shaka, it's that our back court will always be concerning.

In a perfect world you would love a kid who shot it good or great from 3 and could be a great defender and solid floor general.

Those kind of guys are hard to find.......what I saw from James tonight was very encouraging......against future NBA level talent he didn't settle......he made great decisions.....disrupted the game all over the court and nobody could stay in front of him.

His shot does not look broken to me.....he made one nice mid range jumper( I know I know) and is a good free throw shooter.

There have been very good point guards who weren't 3 point threats.........that's what I saw tonight.

I'm not saying he will be great......but that kid can play.....all he has to do is lean into his strengths and Shaka will help him do that.........and if he does become a dependable 3 point shooter?

Look out.

Of course Shaka knows points guards. He knows them really well. I would never say he didn't. You? Who was on the Wojo will make us Duke North bandwagon for 7 years? Not so much. He's very likely at least a little concerned about PG next year BECAUSE he's smart. You think he's never concerned about anything BECAUSE you're not.

Florida man proves scoop underestimating Shaka's PG concern by overestimating Shaka's PG concern.
