A 20 year old freshman. Gotta love those elite academic standards.

Eh ... Marquette has had a few over the years.

Sure, but we don't go out of our way blame academics with recruits we didn't land.

Miletic commits 2 Warriors!

El Guerrero 2

Love that get. Would pair really nicely with a Nyk Lewis or Nigel James. Add in Batemon and you have all your guard spots covered.

Love the Miletic add.  Great shooter, but really skilled and active defensively too.

Now lets add a couple of guards and this will be Shakas best class yet.

Juan Anderson's Mixtape

Great pickup.  Have only seen a bit of video.  Like everyone else has said, great shooter.  But also a good cutter off the ball and good athlete that can finish above the rim.

Great fit for Nevada Smith's offense.

There he is....our resident Bucky lover.

But...Gard does know ball!!

Two dynamic guards, please.

The true Shaka era is underway and it looks very promising. He proved he can adapt, excel at player development and adjust to different style of players and soon we will see a true Shaka lineup. I have zero doubt that he will build a roster that fits his culture and style.

Especially with the video sped up. If Shaka was any good, he'd have all the guys play at that pace. Also needs a higher release point on his jumper.

Straight out of 'Central Casting'.

How do they snag a euro and he still looks like every single other center (sans kaminsky) of the past two decades

2026 kid that has really played well this spring

I had missed this when posted a couple weeks ago.

Interesting that three days after announcing his MU offer, it was reported that Thompson is transferring to Western Reserve. Hopefully Parham and Owens (and the WRA coach) will have some good things to say about MU.

A year from now if we aren't mentioned with a bunch of 5 stars we should probably keep in mind the early contact we're making with them before we claim "Shaka doesn't want 1 and done/5 stars."  MU is at the very least contacting the big fish in the class of 2026.

5-Star and one and done are two different things. Shaka wants one and isn't as interested in the other.

I also wouldn't assume that the 5 stars now will be 5 stars in the final class rankings. I know we get excited about that stuff but coaches largely ignore it

Some are two different things.  But the idea that the 17th best player in the country will be around for 4 years (Kon in the class of 2024) and/or that Shaka wouldn't want Kon is just not realistic.  When you're recruiting top 25 players in a class, there's absolutely a chance the kid will be a 1 and done player.

I feel decently confident that if Jalen Montonati committed to MU tomorrow and moved from the 11th ranked recruit in the class to the 7th ranked recruit in the class by a year from now Shaka wouldn't be informing him he's no longer welcome at MU.

MU82

wades, there can be a pretty big difference between a 1-and-done and a player who won't be around for 4 years.

OMax wasn't considered a 1-and-done, yet he still wasn't around for 4 years.

Jahvon Quinerly was often described as a 1-and-done when Jay Wright recruited him, yet he played 5 college seasons.

I didn't say 4 year players, I said not as interested in one and dones.

If Monronati commited tomorrow is because Shaka is convinced he's a fit for the culture. Theoretically a one and done could fit but i think they would be few and far between.

I think Shaka's realistic enough to understand that a player ranked 11th in his class is talented enough for NBA teams to potentially want to draft them and make them filthy rich after 1 year of college basketball.  I don't think Shaka is interested in players who are ONLY interested in college to increase their draft stock.  Like you say, he wants kids who fit his culture.  I don't think being good enough to go to the NBA after 1 year means a kid wouldn't fit Shaka's culture.  I think Kon is good enough that he MIGHT go to the NBA after one year of college basketball.  I also think Kon would've fit in with Shaka's culture, and Shaka would've loved to have him on the roster (which is why he continued to recruit him up until he committed to Duke).

Sure, a kid could be telling Shaka he really wants to stick around and develop to make sure he's ready for the NBA.  But if that kid comes in as a 5 star recruit and shows enough potential for NBA teams to tell him they'll pay him millions of dollars to fulfill a lifelong dream, that's tougher to turn down than when you're a year out from that possibility.  From all accounts, Reed Sheppard really wanted to win big at Kentucky.  But when millions are on the line, you take the money and run.  And Reed would've been awesome playing for Shaka.

It's why he's offering some 5 stars, but not all 5 stars.  Which is my point.  If we aren't still in on top 35 kids by the time next year rolls around, it's not because Shaka has no interest in 5 star guys.  He's clearly showing some interest here.
