Wow from the highlight video does he have quick hands popping the ball loose from the opponent's hands.  Unreal

For anyone that may have missed it...Michael DeCourcy of Sporting News has Marquette in the Top 5 to start next season and Tre was mentioned directly as someone who can take Marquette's defense to the next level.

5. Marquette

2023 season: 29-7, Big East regular season and tournament champion, NCAA second round

Overview: The Golden Eagles won a league that produced three Sweet 16 teams despite featuring not a single senior in their rotation, let alone a fifth-year player. After what we've seen through the first several rounds of the NCAA Tournament, that seems almost impossible.

What might the Golden Eagles achieve if they're all back?

The combination of point guard Tyler Kolek, shooting guard Kam Jones and big man Oso Ighodaro ranks with the most dynamite offensive trios, not in terms of flat production but more so in how challenging it is to defend all three of them at once. It would be unreasonable to exclude from praise do-everything forward Olivier-Maxence Prosper – known within the sport simply as "O-Max" – who might be as effective a glue guy as there is in Division I men's basketball.

Marquette recruited three solid top-150 prospects to complement this group, including dynamic 6-3 combo guard Tre Norman, who might be the piece the Golden Eagles need to take their defense from good to great.

Yesterday Shaka offered Mason Blackwood, 6'7 wing in the class of 2025. From Rochester, NY and playing at a Prep School in New Hampshire.
Ranked #70 on Rivals and On3, no ranking on ESPN or 247.

After many great talks with Coach Smart I'm extremely blessed and excited to receive an offer from Marquette 💙💛! #goldeneagles

Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

DoctorV

Sounds like a coach Miller versus coach Smart battle, with the main decision maker between the two being minutes played.

I'm sure both programs have and are in on a lot of guys of his mold, and waiting to see how some of that shakes out might play a role in his decision (smartly so).

That said, higher ranked guys in your playing position shouldn't be a deterrent if your confidence level is high- see Jones, Kameron.
Established upperclassmen logjam in your position should be a more legitimate concern- and I don't think that should be a massive concern with incoming 4/5 recruits at Marquette, whereas it should be for those guys playing the 1-3 positions.

Marquette: "I really like the coaching staff. Coach Shaka and coach Berry have been really involved in my recruitment recently. They have a plan for me in the future and see me playing there. I've been watching them a lot during March Madness and the Big East tournament. I also really like the city of Milwaukee

That's all I need to hear.

I like our chances versus Pittsburg, State College and Cincinnati. Better than versus San Diego, Phoenix or Miami.

The question is... Do we really want him? Shaka is in a perfect world position to build the best roster he chooses. Its excited to see what he decides.

It's been many years that we can say that with Shaka and MU this year that most potential recruits will at least talk to Shaka and get into a few better players homes. Just like Shaka not interested in one and done type players.
Recruiting the right way.

I believe Shaka has made Royce a high priority.

Yes, Parham is really good.  Based on his skill level and athleticism he could play a really similar role to Oso at the 5 spot.

I think guys like Parham that are in the 2-3 year development mold, playing into larger roles, is exactly what we want.

Its exciting when you think about all the post it notes with recruit names pasted all over Shaka's office. Who's he going to pick for the 13th scholarship? And when???

Are we still recruiting Luke Bamgboye?

Really interesting article on Big Al; sounds like the type of kid who will be easy to cheer for.

Thanks for posting this.  Very good story and MU fans should be behind the young fella.  Can't wait to see him after putting on 15 pounds, legit athlete.

How much interest did Marquette have in Brandin Podziemski out of high school?  For some reason I feel like I remember him blowing up a bit later, and MU came in after some big programs (Kansas, Illinois, etc.) were getting involved.  Was Shaka ever recruiting him?

I knew there was a Santa Clara guard that was getting some potential first round projections, but all I had remembered about Podziemski was that he went to Illinois.  He fell so far off my radar that I didn't even realize it was a possibility that said Santa Clara guard was actually this guy.

Another reason why I think defense will be the face of the program moving forward. Al and Norman look like two great defenders.
