How can any recruit want to commit to a 78 year old Boeheim? Guy is just an ass at this point and will obviously be gone in a year or two.

So, he'd be looking at likely a major pay cut to trade Phoenix for South Bend, spend his off time in high school gyms and AAU tournaments and play second fiddle to the football program.

In the NBA, the coach is the first to go when expectations aren't met.  I'm not saying he would go to South Bend, but college coaches seem to have a little more control over their future.

If things go sideways in Phoenix and Williams takes the fall, he won't be an unemployed NBA coach for long. NBA coaches with any track record of success get hired over and over again (see: Mike Dunleavy, Rick Adelman, PJ Carlesimo, Rick Carlisle, etc.).
