I think the only other place he is slated to visit is Oregon State.

This has everything to do with fellow Australians Thon Maker and Delly being in Milwaukee and playing for the Bucks.  He is friends with the Maker brothers.

Great info.  Thanks Sultan.

SMU transfer Harry Froling is visiting Marquette on the 8th & 9th, per Evan Daniels. 6'11 250lbs. Would be nice to have him for practice against Heldt and then available for Big East play.

Recall that mid year transfers are available as soon as grades post following the first semester. He'd be eligible 12/19/17.  I remember scheduling ASU so Luke could get his feet wet.

I see that he had been recruited by Brown and that a coaching change occurred immediately thereafter.  Might be just a 'not a good fit' situation.  Glad he's paying us a visit.  The good news is that a decision has to come very soon.

Yah - hasn't the 2nd semester started?
I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

If Frohling is anything like Davante Gardner, I hope we get him!  I think some time with the strength and conditioning coach will be beneficial, if he is willing to put in the work!

Did a little background.  His final 4 were SMU, Arizona, Illinois and Colorado.  Interesting that none appear to be in the picture and that Oregon St. might be the competition.  Someone other than me can do the roster/available immediate scholly comparison.  As I see it, he has time for only 2-3 visits.  I'd love getting a 4 star top 150, 3 year Center.

I don't think his game is like Gardner's at all.  I believe he is more of a step out and shoot kind of guy.

Sure, but maybe he's being told that we'll bring him in, build him up, and that his contribution is 'down the road'.

One area of learning for Wojo might be that Top 100 'finished products' probably aren't coming to MU to be 12th man.  That's different from Duke.

That looks like it would be a great mid season transfer.

Him plus a grad transfer, would make me feel much better about the upcoming season.

Here are a few small tidbits from an article on Froling on DraftExpress.com last April. It was based on workouts at last spring's Nike Hoop Summit ...

The first impression you get of Froling is that of his body, which is extremely poorly conditioned at the moment and in turn has caused him to draw significant skepticism from the NBA scouts in attendance about the extent of his long term upside. Still, you can't help but admire how effective he's been able to be thus far in spite of that. Whether it's scoring inside the post with crafty footwork and turnaround jumpers, crashing the offensive glass with terrific timing, getting in the passing lanes with excellent anticipation skills, or even creating off the dribble and tossing in nifty floaters, Froling defies initial expectations for what he should be able to accomplish on the basketball floor with his outstanding skill level, feel for the game, and competitiveness.

At 261 pounds, Froling has a long ways to go before he'll be able to play the type of defense Larry Brown will likely expect from him, and he has indeed shown to be somewhat on the lazy side on that end of the floor with the lackadaisical attitude he displays towards stepping out on the pick and roll, getting a hand up on shooters, or rotating over the weakside for blocks. Part of that is due to his body, part his lack of lateral quickness and explosiveness, and part simply the fact that he's young and doesn't realize how to play hard on every possession.

I don't know how much he has progressed since then, but sounds a little like a taller, better ballhandling version of Davante.

IF...... he comes to MU, I hope by the time that he is eligible his conditioning and commitment to defense has improved.    I know that this is an old scouting report, but the 'lack of lateral quickness' sounds familiar.

Agreed.   If he comes, we will have quantity of bigs next year, if not a clear cut starter.

Watched some video, has some talent, needs to work on his body much like Matt did.  Has same quickness as Henry Ellenson.  Needs to lose 20 pounds of fat, looks
to me like you said, you need to have some height, he brings it.  A year off will help him.  John then could play some 4,  makes them a little bigger, then maybe they
can get a rebound off a missed free throw!

What the hell, Stan?  Didn't we bring you hear because you can steal all of ASU's talented recruits?  And he has a brother playing professionally in Milwaukee?  What's the issue here?

So just a little counting review.  IF we sign Froling we consume a scholarship currently slotted for '17 leaving TWO left.  Here's how I'd handle those two: 1) available for a '17 Frosh (like Elliot) OR a traditional 'sit out' transfer available after the season, and 2) a Graduate Transfer or an open slot sliding that into the '18 class.  As thing stands now, we have only one available for Spring '18 and it's clearly being held for Joey.  I'd like some flexibility to continue to actively mine that year for a big time player probably at the guard position.

Don't think so.  Offers from ASU and Indiana are both better than anything Kostas had.  He also visited Kansas and Kentucky.  Not sure how serious the interest was from those schools' side though.
