Wow! Has the campus changed for the better. When I attended '65-'69 the only grass on campus was a little stretch in front of the library and along the dental school.

Well, I doubt that was the only grass on campus back then. Marquette had hippies, right?

Why does Jody Bronson have an eye patch?

Did anyone vomit because they dared to give out rings that weren't Final Four or championship rings?

Slim, I believe this photo gallery contains a picture of you, Buzz, and your Hall & Oates record.

I was thinking the same thing. The area between Lalumiere and Brooks Union where we used to camp for basketball tickets now has trees. Large trees.

Seriously, you guys need to get back to campus one of these days.

muwarrior69, you have a reunion coming up next summer.  You ought to go.  I'll be there. :)
Have some patience, FFS.

That's Artie Green with Chris Otule! The Grasshopper was a playground legend in NYC.

As I read through the whinging and whining posts on the perceived recruiting travails of today I think back to when Marquette was the destination of choice for so many NYC and Chicago playground superstars. The Grasshopper, The Dream, The Destroyer, The Swan were Gods on NYC's fiercest blacktops and Marquette was where they chose to play their college ball.

The Grasshopper was one of my all time favorites. Legend in NYC and to many MU fans. You knew how to get folks out of their seats.

I would dare say The Grasshopper reintroduced the artistic Slam Dunk to college hoops. The NCAA had just brought it back and nobody jammed it like Artie Green. It was poetry. The only NYC playgrounder who came close was Connie Hawkins but even The Hawk said The Grasshopper was the king of the jam. The Hawk threw it down while Artie composed a Wagnerian Aria.

They gave out sweet 16 rings last year.

Anyone notice that Buzz's shoes are Texas orange???
You guys are losing your touch.

From the gallery, I like the picture of Juan and Jake at the end.
Jerry still could use some sort of facial expression other than discomfort.

Oh, quite aware (it's my avatar)...and it was ok.  Another school gave out Sweet 16 rings last year and people here got all hellbent and vomitous....the hypocrisy here, sometimes, is awesome to watch unfold.

I think they were upset about a Sweet Sixteen finish when that school had two future lottery picks on the squad

Jerry is great. He looks like he'd be awesome to have as your dad (or in 4never's case, as a son).

Other thoughts on pictures include:

  • Marquette soccer ball / pic 17 - I'd like one, even though soccer is stupid.
  • Pic 19, 20 - tennis team? I'd play with them
  • The Golden Eagle - I can't believe they use to let Tall Titan be around kids like that
  • Even though he's a strong man, impact defender, has his own $ now, etc.. I still think of Jimmy Butler first as a young, sweet kid with a kind heart. One of many great MU stories.
The FBI screwed up in Butler, PA.

Brooks Union not being there kind of helps with that.

Cardign Bookstore....I did not know that Jr. had a bookstore named after him.

Seriously, Cardign had an outstanding selection in those pre-Amazon days. I purchased my first copy of Thomas Merton's, Seven Storey Mountain there. A compelling read which I recommend highly. A must read for anyone who chose a Jesuit education.
