Well well, looks I will be doing some shoe shopping this weekend.

rocky_warrior

Was just looking for this shoe on-sale online, but instead found this Marquette jacket at the finish line marked down to $39.99 form $100.  They only have XXL, so bad for me, but maybe some others here would be interested...

1912 Buick Marquette   and again in 1929

Neat, but the car was named after the company/town.  The shoe is named after the University - super cool.

But that was the car in the 1977 NCAA Champions "Tux" Photo, right?

Nope, that was a 1934 Parker...

edit: well, that was a quote from Bo Ellis 'That car is a 1934 Parker," said Bo Ellis', but I can't find any more infor about what a Parker is, or who made it...(was it Parker?)

I think what Bo meant to say was "Packard".

True...of course the university was named after a priest who was named after........

I think it is very, very cool that Marquette has a shoe named after it. However, I'm not the biggest fan of these shoes. They are a little too new school for me. I would LOVE to have a pair of Converse Weapons (think Bird and Magic) in Blue/Gold. By the way, if anyone was wondering if we were going to be a "Brand Wade" school next year, this may be the answer.

I looked on Eastbay, and they aren't called the 'Marquettes'. They are Wade 2.0 Low.....

Those WILL NOT be the shoes for our basketball team wears next year, low-tops = bad for basketball

Thanks...cool, the Super 8 Convertible looks similar (not sure exactly which model this one is, could be a 902...).  Funny, I also found a MU Tribune article that ran with the "Parker" reference without checking facts.  I'll put this on the Wiki to help resolve any confusion in the future  ;D

I didn't mean to imply that they were the shoes the team would wear, just that there was the obvious tie-in between MU and Converse.

Oh yeah - I guess if I had read the caption more carefully, it says that the color scheme comes form Marquette, and then the caption author dubs them the "Marquettes"...  :(

QuoteWith the NBA Season drawing to a close, Converse recently released their more casual Converse Wade 2.0 low. These new Wade 2.0 lows feature a colroway inspired by Wade's alma mater, Marquette University. The Converse 2.0 Low "Marquettes" are available now at large retail chains.

There is a mid top version of the 2.0 in Marquette colors.

This is the team shoe for next season so there is a good chance that Marquette might rock these too, assuming the deal goes through.  Kirk Hinrich, Jameer Nelson, Udonis Haslem, and others have been wearing these this season.

If those are the colors, I welcome to the return to that style blue!

So who's going to make the Wiki for Marquette team-worn and inspired shoes?!?
