Well, compared to what he's become of late, he used to just be "bad-to-middling."  Now it's a toss up between the announcers from Paradise Jam (excluding Laura, obviously) and him as to who I'd get angrier watching call a game.  I'd rather listen to the homers on the Big Ten-welve Network call UW-MU than him, any day.

First of all, he wasn't accurate.

Second of all, Digger picks Notre Dame to win every game they play, so giving him credit for Syracuse is silly.

Third of all, Digger is almost impossible to listen to. Nothing gets me switching to another channel faster than when he and Bobby are on the same ESPN panel discussion. Ugh.

I think the people who do not like Vitale are not old enough to remember what announcers were before Vitale. They basically talked about the game in a lifeless manner. Vitale brought enthusiasm to the announcing world. That is why he has been so successful. He was a pioneer in being a fan of the game he was watching.

Nope, I am definitely old enough to remember announcers before Vitale.  Grew up with Hot Rod Huntley calling the TVS Game of the Week.
