Any ideas as to what the white tube is, near his face?  I'm of course sensitive to his macular condition .. but .. is he slowly turning into the Borg?   ;)

I wonder if these were taken at a coaching clinic........methinks that's a microphone

From the times I've seen his activity at Hegarty's back in the day, I think he's gonna need a bionic liver!

Although he didn't recruit that well, and I am nothing but estatic that we have Coach Crean instead, I agree.  He is a good coach and I do hope he does well.  There is a reason why he keeps getting coaching jobs.

A quick story about Coach Deane.

As most probably know, I use to be a manager for the Marquette women's team.  One of my best friends got me involved with women's basketball by asking me to play on the practice squad.  He told me this story.

During the winter break, many of the practice squad guys are not in town, so we get other guys to fill in, such as the men's managers.
One day, Mike Deane decided help out and play.  Due to his eye condition, he has to wear an eye patch when he plays.  My buddy has a strong arm.  He played QB for a community college before he came to Marquette.  When he plays basketball, he loves whipping these no look passes to people.  They are always on the mark, but he definitely puts alot on them.

During one play, my buddy had the ball, and he saw Deane open under the basket.  So, he looked away, and whipped a pass to Mike Deane.  The ball hit him square in the head.  So, Dean goes up to my buddy and says,"That's a nice pass son, but as you can see, I'm blind."

I wonder how many men's basketball coaches would play on the practice squad for the women's team.  I always like Mike Deane, and I wish him the best.

Crisco - great story on Deane.  A good guy (from all I hear), but just not the right fit for MU.

Aaah yes, Kristen Maskala.  She was before my time as a player, but as a doctor, she would sit on the bench a lot.  Many times, I tried to get the seat next to her.

Mike's a good guy and a very good game coach. Yeah, recruiting was an issue, but he got the most out of the talent he was able to bring in. And he cared about MU and what it stands for.

Glad that TC is here (and for the long term), but I'll always root for Mike to do well.

Okay it has to be said.  Is someone going to attach or link a picture as some of us now need to see what you guys are talking about.

From that pic, it looks like the last 13 years haven't been too good on her.  I'll chalk it up as that being a bad pic.  I remember her being quite the looker back in the day.  I think she graduated in '94 and she was a hell of a bball player.  Probably one of the best ever at MU.  Maybe if Murf was here, he'd could fill us in.

She's a member of the MU Hall of Fame...

KRISTEN MASKALA
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
1991-94
Kristen Maskala was one of the most prolific scorers in Marquette history amassing 1,745 points in three years of play from 1991 to 1994. Maskala scored in double figures in 85 of 89 career games and was a three-time Great Midwest Conference First Team selection. A student-athlete in every sense of the word, Maskala earned academic All-American recognition in each of her three seasons. Following completion of her senior year in 1994, Maskala was named the GTE Academic All-American of the Year in women's basketball, was one of only 14 women's basketball players to earn an NCAA postgraduate scholarship, as well as being named the state of Wisconsin Woman of the Year by the NCAA. Inducted in 2004 and sponsored by Mike Bachus.

How did we go from Deane to Kristen?  Oh that's right, it was your fault! (somehow prompted by Crisco's story on Deane...)
