Getting excited just thinking about watching DJO and the squad in the Bradley this year.  Hopefully he puts on a few crazy performances

Wade for President

DJO will be 2nd team All-American.  Yep.

Given the very early preseason rankings that are popping up, I think that might be somewhat of the expectation level.

Is that a 10 ft rim?  Looks a little low.

BOLD, but love the swagger! DJO's definitely got the skills.

I was there last night with my kids and a few more alums from the RTP, NC area.

He was ridiculously good.  DJO and Austin Rivers were clearly the best players on the court last night.  There was one ally-oop that DJO caught below his waist and still did a windmill into the hoop.  These summer leagues aren't known for defense at all, but DJO still had a nice block near the end of the game where his chest appeared to be above the rim.  He definitely has some major hops!  But, we knew that from the put back dunk in the Louisville game.

Also, we were lucky enough to meet the young man when we were up in Milwaukee a few weeks ago when my 5-year-old son showed him how he does his 3-goggles.  I was able to catch up with DJO on twitter to find out what team he was on and coordinated a MU Alumni - Club of the Carolinas event to go watch him play.  We didn't have a huge turnout, but DJO made a point to come and stop over to the Marquette Alumni section during halftime to say hi and he remembered meeting my son.  It was the highlight of my son's night!

We ARE Marquette!

Regards,
Todd

P.S. I'll post some links when I find highlights of last night.  There were at least 3 dunks that were ridiculous!  Also, he had his stroke from outside going as well and I think he must have had at least 30 points.  I'm optimistic about this season!  Let's make some waves in the Big East this year!

Awesome dunk! Thanks for sharing, Todd. Watching Cadougan in our own Pro-Am and DJO down there, I really think we're in for a special season.

I love DJO, and he's a total freak...but I'm skeptical.

He's going to have a huge year this year.  I can hardly wait.

so when you block someone on NBA JAM (super Nintendo of course), do they say "disaffected"?  Is that a word?  I have defiantly not played that game sober in years

DJO's Pump Fake

The salute is far and away the coolest thing about that.

DJO's Pump Fake may have to be changed to DJO's Salute

Intercepted for a steal/intercepted-pass.  Rejected for a block.  That announcer spoke so fast that it was hard to understand, though :)

The left handed salute... great name for his three point shot.

Obviously, you're OLD SCHOOL. ;) I grew up with those too. :)

The NEW NBA Jam have some new ones:

"You bring the peanut butter...AND I'LL BRING THE JAM"

On a blocked shot: "No hoop for you!" "Rejected like a bad check!"

Day 5 recap of the NC Pro-Am, including a vid with nice DJO highlights :)  http://www.slamonline.com/online/college-hs/college/2011/08/nc-pro-am-unc-duke-nc-state-cj-leslie-pj-hairston-lorenzo-brown-acc/

Darius Johnson-Odom, 6-2, PG/SG, Senior, Marquette: The lefty combo guard had more dunks than anyone, despite being a hair over 6-foot. The athletic freak probably had the most highlights of anyone and kept the defense honest with the trio of 3′s he put on the board.  Still somewhat stuck in-between guard positions, look for him to0 build on the All Big East 2nd team spot he had last year and attempt to work his way into the League.

I think that is one of the most fantastic things I've read all summer. DJO is stuck in-between guard positions? That means that he's actually displaying point guard skills! I love DJO, have since he got here, but he's never really demonstrated anything resembling a point guard mentality in his first two years at Marquette. Honestly, I'm almost surprised that he's averaged 2.4 apg so far. If he is getting the kind of ball-handling and passing mindset to even be a secondary point guard to Cadougan, he could really help make the offense flow more (in addition to filling up the bucket).

I know he mentioned he was working on that this summer...glad to hear the work is paying off enough that people are crediting him with having some point guard acumen.

I did not read it the same way.  I read it more as a 2G in a PG body.
