Portland trade

Thought this might go unnoticed.  Portland just traded fernandez and miller for felton and the rights to jordan hamilton.  It really looks like portland is confident with matthews going forward to trade away rudy fernandez.  great night for MU players in the nba.

Except for Lazar.  With the pick of Williams and with Wesley Johnson and Webster already there, PT for Lazar might be slim again.

I'm hoping MN trades Lazar. He needs to get away from that mess of an organization

+1  Minnesota is a terrible situation for him, but I guess he is at least making money. If he's not going to get pt I'd rather see him on a winning team at least.

Portland didn't end up getting Hamilton out of the deal.

Portland did add a couple guards in the draft with Duke's Nolan Smith and Jon Diebler from Ohio State.

Honestly, I think this past season was an "audition" for Fernandez to see if he could stay healthy and be the player Portland envisioned.  You don't give out a contract to a second year player worth $30mill to have them only play 18-20 minutes a game.

I just wish Lazar could find a better situation.  Wish he'd get traded to Detroit, they LOVE hard working players.  Any town that can make Ben Wallace into an icon, would love Lazar's effort and character - even as a reserve/rotation guy.

Matthews is a better defender than Smith, and a MUCH better defender than Diebler.  Diebler to me is like Novak.  He shoots really well, but isn't a great defender and can't really put the ball on the floor.

Does Lazar have an NBA future after his rookie contract is done?

Were you surprised Leuer got drafted Sultan?

I really hope that Lazar's time in Minnesota isn't hurting his future value. It never looks good if you struggle to find minutes on the worst team in the NBA. Then again, it has to be understood around the NBA that the T-wolves don't know what the F they're doing.

IMO, he will definitely get a chance with someone if Kahn doesn't re-up his deal.

No...I thought he went a little higher than people thought, but I think they thought he would get drafted.  I think that he is more athletic than he gets credit for, and he's a real smart player.  One of the problem's with Bo's offense is that there generally is so little dribble penetration that it is hard to tell how their game may translate to the NBA.

That being said, you are who you guard in the NBA.  Not quick enough to guard a 4 and not big enough to guard a 5.

He'll get a chance, but I don't think he is tall enough or explosive enough to have a long run.  I actually think JFB has a bigger upside.
