for MU during a s h i t t y rendition of "One Shining Moment."
"Give 'Em Hell, Al"

Norm

Oh yeah, that was a terrible version of the song. And what was with all the cutaways to Jennifer Hudson?

Glocced and Loaded

Agreed on a terrible One Shining Moment.  Not a single highlight from the best game of the tournamnet Xavier vs Kansas St.  But if you want to see MU they need to win a frickin game.  I was dreading Pondexter but was pleasantly surprised I didnt have to live through it again.

mugoose

dreadful. just dreadful. didnt expect to see mu...or j hudson. what was up with the j hudson cutaways.

dreadful.

i wrote a really strong letter to CBS about that horrible One Shining Moment, then didn't send it.  i think that a lot of guys get a pretty reliable emotional jolly off that every year (I know I do, hope I'm not lame and alone on that).  I felt totally let down.  Hence the letter, as if to an ex gf, that never got sent... god I'm lame.

mumike22

Shouldve sent that letter...

You would think that they wouldve given a tribute to teddy pendergrass (original singer and possibly writer) who died during the past year.  Also, they usually try to get all 65 teams in regardless of their results. Finally, I wouldt be interested to find out how much money they wasted on jennifer hudson...I bet she didn't know what the song was when they first called her.

If you can't tell, I am also very disappointed.

thanooj

Totally agree about Jennifer Hudson screen time.  That was b.s.   that was precious seconds for schools wasted.  Wofford got in though.

I thought thuggins shot at the end was touching and I hate the guy.
Original member of the "Dean's List"

Norm

Dave Barrett is the original singer and is the guy who wrote the song. Teddy and Luther Vandros have done versions of the song as well. I hope they jettison this Jennifer Hudson version. Horrible.

injuryBug

I knew it would be bad from the start when Hudson says the ball is tipped and they show her instead of the traditional opening tip of the tournament.
Absolutely terrible, it has gotten worse every year.  It was always cool to see the champs cutting down the nets jsut before the start of the song with the credits rolling.  Now of course the cutting of the nets has been bought by Werner ladder the official ladder of the ncaa.

I know they used to feature at least one shot, however brief, of every team in the tournament.  Apparently that is no longer the case.

Still got goosebumps....

Preparing for when they can't fit in 96 teams?
?-(

Probably a good thing, because for Marquette it has been a shot of someone looking sad on the bench pretty much every year for the last 4.

Final Four or Bust

I would've lost a lot of money betting on the shot of Lazar collapsed on the court after his missed shot.  I thought for sure the scene would have made it with the cameraman rushing to put the camera about a foot from his face.

mu_hilltopper

Here's the video for those who haven't seen it.

Personally, the instant Butler's last shot didn't fall, I turned the TV off.  Didn't want to see Duke celebrating.

Who the frack is Jennifer Hudson?

I refuse to watch it.

TomW1365

This is an awful song and I never understood why this has become a tradition.

Norm

I think the original version of the song is great. It was also cool when they did the long lead in with the team cutting down the nets while the credits scrolled and the long prelude to the song played in the background.

agreed I also beleive Jim Nance to be simply unbearable.  he ruins the NCAA's and Masters back to back with his pathetic melodrama.  Good news i dont have to listen to the fool the other 50 weeks a year.

T-Bone

They should get Gus Johnson to sing it.
I'm like a turtle, sometimes I get run over by a semi.

DJO's Pump Fake

Agree with all.....the worst one shining moment ever.  She didn't even sing it traditionally, it was awful

fantastic!  I was in NO for the game and actually had never seen this until now.

Also, count me in on the Jennifer Hudson hate train.  Some things need to be kept classic, and this is one of them.
