Where is it written that teal = sarcasm...?  Or, is that just some dumb "in" thing to do on this board?

Teal has meant sarcasm on this board for a very very very very very long time.
But I like to throw handfuls...

Right, but not other places on the internet.  It's just a silly thing that MUScoopers do.

I say get rid of Teal.  If people can't figure out sarcasm on their own then perhaps <insert insinuation that they are of substandard intelligence> <trailing nonsensical statement regarding their mothers and waffles>.

Can someone say teal out?

Actually, two other boards I go to use teal for the very same purpose. I like it. People generally catch onto it without being told and it let's people be sarcastic without starting silly fights

I agree. Its silly and it really does detract from this board as a number of posters use this "technique" to crticize other posters and the like.  Some folks just need to grow up.

Hate teal.  Whatever happened to the good 'ol italic?

Ari Gold

we could employ the use of the eye roll  ::) Doesn't that imply sarcasm? people could always use the [sarcasm] [/sarcasm] tool

I like the BB code sarcasm tags, but rolling your eyes (to me) is like saying "you're an idiot."  Sticky-outty tongue face means silly/sarcasm and is what I usually resort to :P

BrewCity83

The teal is probably the most likely to not be misunderstood.  I will continue to use it.
The shaka sign, sometimes known as "hang loose", is a gesture of friendly intent often associated with Hawaii and surf culture.

copious1218

I refuse to use those damn smiley faces, and therefore, will continue to use teal (or the /sarcasm suggested by others).

LON

I'm sticking it the man by not using emoticons.  Boom.

Ari Gold

Teal is an awful color and it's too close too blue, which is half of Marquette's colors, the other being Gold when you use teal you associate it with our pathetic nickname. thats why no one should wear gold to tonights game!

Coleman

yessssssssssss someone bit.

That was actually my first teal experiment. I picked up on it without being told.

I can dump the teal. Either way, you should have known I was being sarcastic.

MU B2002

this looks like a weak ass gold out.  Sorry, but u cant even tell the lower bowl is even trying.

Dear Alumni,

Please pause next time you want to criticize the student section attendance of a USF game. Thanks for trying on the gold out. 40% must have been a stretch for you.

Kind Regards,

Student

student section looks awesome.  Almost full gold (at least it looks that way from my couch.)

Agreed, students brought it tonight, loud and proud!

WE ARE MARQUETTE!

MUsoxfan

I'm at the game right now. There are stretches of rows in the half-court sections where not a gold shirt can be found. Absolutely pathetic that almost every other school that does this can get it done, and we can't even pretend

LA

Students were there in gold ready to go.

Alumni *cough lower bowl cough* sucked.

mu_hilltopper

Yep, cosign.  The season ticket holder gold-out was a complete bust.    Way to stick it to the man.

gumbyandpokey

Why is this even important?

The fact that 60% of the crowd was in gold vs 70% affected the game how?

If the team only played at 60% of their potential you would bitch about them.  I think it's fair for gold wearing fans to complain about the 40% of non-gold wearing fans.  If we can't even get together something as simple as "everyone wear gold", it surprising we expect so much out of the team and coach.

It's not rocket science, wear F'in gold and make noise for the team!  That's all.  Put up or shut up.

MUSig54

Hmm...let's see. MU planned a gold out. Players wear gold. Students did their part and wore gold. Apparently the crotchety ol' alums ('06 grad myself) just didn't get the memo or didn't want to participate. It was pretty damn visible on TV. It probably didn't affect the game in any tangible way, but still, if I was a player and I knew there was going to be a gold out, and when I walked out into the BC and saw that most of the alums didn't give a care to participate in it I might have felt a little disheartened.

Of course, I still would have busted my ass and tried, but it doesn't hurt to be a team player and try to support the school we all went to. If anything, it was for the players, not for the administration or whatever BS reasons have been spewn by the too-cool-for-school older alums who think wearing gold is a travesty.

It probably wouldn't have affected the game, but it sure would have been nice to see the crowd, other than the students who did bring it, support the team. Especially on a game that was on ESPN.

/And before you say you support the team, you knew it was a Gold Out before hand.

PuertoRicanNightmare

Nude out would have affected the game.
