I was looking at Users online here on Scoop. Who or what is a hidden user. At the time of this posting there were 7 hidden users.

We don't discuss the Hidden Users because they're in the Witness Protection Program.

Real answer: There are a few people that hide whether they're online or not.

If you go to your Account Settings you can flag off "Show others my online status."

The men who wrote a letter and promised to make their own forum, which would be the end of MUScoop as there would be no ball knowers left.

Why don't you want anyone to know you're online? Perhaps the MODS can explain why the option is there. Obviously, if you post we know you are online.

Keefe tracks this information for HR departments.

Just to clarify for all

Quote from: muwarrior69 on October 30, 2024, 10:58:05 AMwhy does show IP address appear in my post?

IP addresses are shown to administrators and moderators to facilitate moderation and to make it easier to track people up to no good. Remember that IP addresses may not always be identifying, and most people's IP addresses change periodically.

Members are also allowed to see their own IPs.

Why would I want people to know when I'm online or offline? I don't think anyone in their right mind would ever share their name, address, email address, or any other telemetry information with anyone online.

I've had some crazy ex-girlfriends that were pretty persistent. We've had some crazy people on Scoop that were pretty persistent. It's valuable to give them as little information as possible, even if that information seems innocuous.

For the online thing? It's just a checkbox next to "allow people on this forum to email you" so I unchecked both of them out of privacy habit.

Just a note on this (because I was looking for the option)...User emails are hidden in 2.1 by default, so you don't have to worry about hiding them, only admins can see them.
