Quote
Steve Wojciechowski, Marquette Golden Eagles

You don't often see an assistant from another school tapped as the head coach at a major conference program, but when it does happen, the assistant is almost always coming from Duke. Since 1999, just six assistants have been hired as head coaches at a different major conference program. Four of those six were from Duke: Quin Snyder at Missouri, Johnny Dawkins at Stanford, Chris Collins at Northwestern and now Steve Wojciechowski. (If you're really interested, the other two were Michigan State assistant Tom Crean, who, like Wojciechowski, was hired by Marquette, and Texas assistant Frank Haith, who was hired by Miami.)

Coach Wojo should consider importing the floor-slapping to Milwaukee, because at the moment, this Marquette team is woefully deficient defensively. Players like Duane Wilson, Matt Carlino, Juan Anderson and Deonte Burton can bring plenty to the table offensively, but all of the above are 6-foot-6 or under. In fact, for the most part Marquette has played a rotation in which no one's taller than 6-7. Maybe the D will improve later this month when 6-11 Indiana transfer Luke Fischer becomes eligible, but for now, opponents are hitting a whopping 56 percent of their 2s.

Fischer may want to savor feeling needed while it lasts. For next season, Wojciechowski has signed 6-10 big man Henry Ellenson, ranked No. 4 nationally in the 2015 ESPN 100, and projected by some mock boards as a 2016 lottery pick.

ESPN always downplays its coverage of the Big East and mostly only reports on MU if its bad news.

Not true - there is a picture of Wojo on the front page.

This article was definitely bad news. Rather, it was bad, and it was news. Very little insight, and not very accurate.

Not the least of which is calling Marquette a "major conference program" at the time they hired Crean.
Have some patience, FFS.

What you have missed is how positive they are about Buzz in the same article.  Even though they have bad losses he is a offensive guru, all his teams know how to score.  Total B.S.

Buzz Williams, Virginia Tech Hokies

Give Buzz Williams credit: The man knows how to get the ball in the basket. From Day 1 of what will clearly be a massive rebuilding project, his Hokies have made their shots. As a junior, Joey van Zegeren has seen his 2-point accuracy climb by 15 points even as his workload has expanded dramatically. Williams knows his way around an offense.

Nevertheless, this team has lost to Appalachian State, Northern Iowa and Penn State primarily for two reasons: Virginia Tech might be the weakest rebounding team -- at both ends of the floor -- in recent major conference history, and to add insult to injury, these guys also commit a ton of turnovers. There's not a doubt in my mind that Williams will have this offense humming the way Marquette's did back in the day with Jae Crowder and Darius Johnson-Odom. And while that day has not yet arrived in Blacksburg, Williams will add Maryland transfer Seth Allen to his backcourt next season, and the coach has already signed his first top-100 recruit: Chris Clarke, a 6-6 wing from Virginia Beach.

Well I mean you could argue CUSA was about as strong as the big east now is definitely what the American is when it had Marquette, Louisville, Memphis, Cinci, and a still halfway decent Depaul.

My alma mater, Gordon Tech, is sadly now called DePaul College Prep. I told them to take me off the mailing list since I didn't go to DePaul.

Wonder how many alumni that bothered. I can imagine quite a few.
