but then when those amazing practice players lay bricks in game after game after game at what point do you say..gee I wonder if I need to try something else?

Somehow I still doubt if Juan and Jake were better than Burton and Mayo in practice last year?   Not who starts it's who finishes.

It does not matter if Mayo was better than Jake or Derrick. Mayo was his own worst enemy.

Unless this this team has a few surprises, my guess is attendance will be down this season.

How much would Wojo pay to watch that chit?

Lol - I didn't hijack crap. The same goofballs that defended Buzz to death last year jumped right on board and started it in this thread about Buzz not being only one who based his starting lineup on how guys practiced. And as had been pointed out - Duh...at this point what else is Wojo going to go off?  Recruiting rankings?  Class year. Of course since we are small right now you have to play Steve and Juan too almost by default. After 15 games of seeing how all guys perform in not just practice, but games, as well as different matchups against different opponents, there are then a lot more variables involved in how you determine starting lineup.

If you want to take issue with the "hijack" take it up with Tower and Lenny.

This might be unprecedented but I agree with Ners. If you poke a bear do you really blame the bear when he takes a swype at you?

Wait till Wojo sees attendance next year. He won't have to beg people to come.

I looked up first game attendance figures...whether they were exhibition games or D1 lid lifters.  This was the lowest paid attendance since the first year in the BE (and the Amigos' freshman year).  The "announced" attendance today was 12,160 (even with a pretty good WLC crowd). I would say the real crowd was half that at best.  Last season's opening crowd was 14,269.

Whether kicking off a season with an exhibition or regular season game, the exhibition games have always been included in the season ticket package, so these numbers are comparable.  So, besides a few hundred single games purchases, I would say MU's full season ticket count is down 1500-2000+.  I am getting an email a day on the Al game that tickets are still available, meaning those tickets are not moving either.

So, why?  Last season's results?  The new coach?  More people buying packs?  Alientation of season ticket holders (i.e., can't pick your seats), past administrations, no Elite 8 season before? Older alums giving up their tickets?  It isn't the economy.  The previous eight year opener attendance averaged 13,404, btw, and has been pretty consistent.

Paraphrasing Wojo is a hijack?   Wow.

Combination of all the above that you list. If we get off a to a decent start  the attendance will take a turn up. When our young talent jells, they will be very fun to watch.

If this was about my comment, it wasn't directed at you. Your comment was utterly neutral. A few of the follow ups were very targeted at Ners. Which is fine....but when others started accusing Ners of hijacking the thread, it wasn't fair or accurate. Or course, Ners didn't have to take the bait, but he didn't start it.

No, TAMU, it is right here.  (sigh)   Somehow, in a thread about Wojo post game, paraphrasing something Wojo said post game is a hijack.

Goofballs that defended Buzz? C'mon Ners, you can do better. Those "goofballs" imagine that they are highly objective analysts of the program. They know that they are not "goofballs". They recognize themselves for what they are. Buzz slurpers. And they know who they are.

If you come from Duke where their arena holds like 12,000 I think and the student section surrounds the playing floor mostly, the BC can look empty with 10,000 or how many showed up.  I drove up from Chicago too. It was worth the drive.

Cameron holds roughly 9,300 people.

On the heartburn over the starting lineup. If you look at the box score everyone but Dawson played about 22 minutes, so who the starters were isn't abundantly important. Will every game be like that minutes wise? Obviously not. Let's see how things are different against UTM on Friday.

Agree w/TexWestern--all of the above.  Plus, I bought Buzz's schtick, and my fragile heart has to be protected, lest it be broke again.

Another reason having zero 7pm game. All but one during the week starts at 8pm.

Student season numbers are around 3,400 in past years. Who's to say it at 2,400 this year. So, there is 1,000 right there.
