However, we as fans of MU might have felt about Louisville, I'm sure that their fans would giggle at the thought that we were rivals.  The team that they love to hate and that they feel on the same level as is Kentucky.

Kentucky is clearly their biggest rival, but considering the games we had over the past 15-20 years, I think we definitely had a good rivalry and most of their fans acknowledged that. So many incredibly memorable games. Admittedly, most seemed to go their way (especially the past few years) but I think sharing conferences as long as we did helped cement us as rivals.

That said, with us no longer in the same conference, I'm sure they no longer see us as a rival. But that doesn't change the shared history, and pretty much every UL fan I've talked to acknowledges that it was significant.

The Bleecher report (the source of all sports wisdom!!) lists the 25 college basketball rivalries.  They say MU/ND is no. 23 and MU/UW is no. 16.

They seem to be saying that we are NDs biggest rival but our biggest rival is UW.

Hoping Butler becomes a big rival. Those two games we played with them last year were hopefully a big sign of things to come.

Why didn't you list IU on here based on the threads?

Begging for it AGAIN.
The FBI screwed up in Butler, PA.

Funny to read the Badger players talk about how important this game is, how it is a huge rivalry, etc.  The irony must be lost on their fans.

Jay Bee, they are the MOST talked about school on the MU Scoop message board other than MU....they must be a huge rivalry of ours.

Funny to read the Badger players talk about how important this game is, how it is a huge rivalry, etc.  The irony must be lost on their fans.

From the game day story in the Wisconsin State Journal:

"Gasser said earlier this week that if he could have chosen one regular-season game to play in last season, it would have been the one against Marquette. He was asked to describe the feeling of being forced to watch from the sidelines.

“Painful,” he said. “Just dreadful. Something that wasn’t fun. … This is just a fun game to be part of, and I’m glad to be back and ready for it.”

When the No. 8 Badgers (9-0) and Golden Eagles (5-3) meet at 1:15 p.m. today at the Kohl Center, it will be the teams’ 120th meeting in a series that dates to 1917. For Gasser, a Port Washington native, it’s a game that means a lot, especially after sitting out last season’s installment.

“I love rivalries like this,” Gasser said. “You know it’s going to be a great game. It’s not going to be a game where you can play 30 minutes and pull out the win. You’ve got to play hard for 40 minutes.”

Case closed.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.
