Neat - you feel good about all those? This team has been underperforming in virtually all of its games the last 2 months. In that time the only tangible thing that's happened in this program is Broeker getting defaulted into the AD spot. Do you see any positive momentum on the court?

We've fallen off a cliff, all the way down to 14 in KenPom.

What team in the Big East is blowing out every team they play? Is it the St. John's team that went to OT at home against Xavier and beat Providence by 2 at home this week? Or the Creighton team that needed a shot from the corner that hit the top corner of the backboard to fall in to beat Nova today? Or maybe the UCONN team that was down double digits to DePaul?

Why are you acting like MU's 9-2 is garbage but everyone else's wins have been incredibly impressive?

Almost every game in the Big East is tough. Enjoy the wins you can get. We've got a lot.

Or sulk because we lost a game to a game to a good team and haven't blown everyone out. Don't let me tell you what to do.

The Ken Pom rankings of the teams we've beat in conference so far.  There's one tournament team in there. We've been beating (and struggling to do it) mediocre to downright terrible teams.

Butler (2x) 80
Creighton  32
Seton Hall 175
Georgetown  85
Villanova  57
Providence  79
Xavier      45
DePaul    126

Now do Creighton, St. John's, and UCONN, and how impressively they've done it.

It doesn't matter. You think 9-2 is great. No problems. I also think it's great.  I don't happen to think it is indicative that we're a very good team right now because of who we've played and how we've played.

Good news is St. John's, UCONN, and Creighton have all been worse than MU so far this season. And everyone else in the BE is under .500.

Down to 20th in KenPom. Looks like I was overly optimistic when I said 18.

We're behind St Johns in Big East play and there's nothing about how we've played of late to suggest we'll split them much less surpass them

We're above them in KenPom, NET, the polls, etc.

They just beat Providence by 2 at home. But hey. MU is trash and SJU would never struggle with a sub .500 BE team.

We've struggled to beat plenty of those.

That'll happen when someone shoots 60% from the field and 63% from 3 against you.

Defense was fine today, outside of giving Ball 3 open looks in the 2H.

It was actually better than fine, it was good.

It'll take a bath in KenPom rankings tho.
Computers just know the data, but this is an elite defensive team

No shame in that and nothing to scoff at. College basketball is pretty good this year. We are in a tier with about 30 other teams.

The tier is top 20 to 50 teams

At least one positive when MU loses is that the entertainment doesn't end when the game does.

I look forward to admitting I'm wrong when they go on a March run

Home loss but to decent team. UC up of course and us down.

I'm more interested in the number a week from now.

I think that number will be pretty close to our seed predictor.  So if 10 then a 3, 15 a 4...but it's still all +/- so many variables.  It's just that @STJ and @CR  are relatively big games.

I expect MU to lose both of those games, as the team seems to be in a rut right now and is not starting games well.

My guess is we finish the year somewhere ranked between 20 and 25, if we stay in the rankings.

"Defense was fine today, outside of giving Ball 3 open looks in the 2H." Thus, D really wasn't fine. Shaka can't shoot free throws fhr the team. Shaka can't shoot 3's for 'em either. But MU's D covering their shooters was not good...didn't see a coaching adjustment for that.

I've got money on MU to win the conference (and NC).  First time I've been concerned.
