QuoteAlthough his team came up short, Marquette signee Nigel James was the best player on the floor. The six-foot floor general was no stranger to the paint. James confidently located shooters and loved taking his chances at finishing over size.
On the opposite side of the ball, James was up for all the smoke pressuring the ball the length of the floor with a high level of engagement.
James will be bringing the throwback point guard vibes to the Golden Eagles system as his game is all about two-way assertiveness and finding opportunities for those around him.

Quote from: TedBaxter on December 17, 2024, 12:23:01 PMSaw Karvala twice the last two weeks.  I've seen some pretty good leapers in my basketball life and in regards to explosiveness, it brought me back to the late 70's and Park Falls athlete David Greenwood.  Karvala is one of the very select few prep players I've seen who literally looks like he's suspended in air.

Marquette coaches were at both games I was at, so I'll let them determine whether he's a priority.

I'm definitely hoping we get Karvala. JJ Andrews would be a monster add too, though there are many reasons he'd go to go to Arkansas instead; Shaka would probably have to roll a 20 on Persuasion to land him. I also like Tarris Bouie and Adam Boyd since they just look like Marquette players to me. Ethan Johnston too.

Does anyone know exactly how many we'll be able to recruit? There'll be 3 scholarship slots, plus one or two more I think to meet the roster limit.

After taking such a large class in 2025, I would expect 3 in 2026.  Mayyyybe 4, depending on who the 4th is (like JJ Andrews).

Pretty sure this is the first time for a D&D reference in the Recruiting thread, maybe first ever on Scoop.

Funnily enough I've only ever played D&D maybe two or three times. Was trying to think of something persuasion-related to say and that was the best I could come up with.

It's very brief but at 35:50, John Fanta and T.O. mention how excited Marquette should be about Nigel James next year. And they mention it again about a minute later.

They're also talking about Marquette in general here -- pretty good listen.

Whole thread of dad jokes.  Nothing wrong with a d&d joke.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.
