1. Kam goes out, Dayton goes press and zone.  Wise.
2. It appeared in the first half that MU spent their week practicing defense.  Less so in the second half.
3.  Rebounding was the PROBLEM
4. Kam, perhaps you should consider not making cheap fouls.  Needed the all American tonight.
5. Freshmen looking more like freshmen. Good and bad.  Growing pains are part of the process.
6. Quit moving on offense.  One of the things that always stands out to me. When a team stands still, they lose.
7. The announcers were right.  That arena was waiting to explode.
8.  MU struggled to defend in bounds plays.  Out of character.
9.  The first time all season MU has played a crap half with a full roster.
10. Stand around on offense, fail to secure defensive rebounds and you get the outcome you earn.
11.  Congrats to Dayton. They earned it.

Marquette wins in a blow out with a fairly officiated game. The three tic-tacs on Kam, and just every call their way in the crucial moments of the game.

Dish

Players deserved that L. Shaka had them ready, that second half was abysmal.

jesmu84

Dayton played more like Marquette than Marquette in the 2nd half

Turns out MU isn't good enough to not show up for a half and still beat a decent team

Tyler COLEk

And a typically horrible CBSSN broadcast to boot.

Make 'em take the Greyhound home

The Sultan

Worst collapse of the Shaka era. Too much panic by a veteran team and everything we worried about Ben came to life. No reason to lose that one.

Oh well 9-2 and time for the BE.

Did we stop Dayton once in their last 10 possessions?? Honestly wtf.. absolute train wreck of a half. Just embarrassing

MuggsyB

We did not play with the proper poise, intelligence, or intensity in the 2H.  And it manifested itself on both ends of the floor.  Extremely upsetting.

lol. No. They were out hustled in that second half pretty severely.

I'm not sure they played well enough in the 2nd half even with an even whistle.

That said, Stevie's drive near the end was a good example. Fouled legitimately 4 times on his drive before one was finally called

DJO's Jaw

The refs were bad, but we were absolutely terrible in the 2nd. It seemed like we had no backup plan when the defense couldn't force TO's. Stevie played his worst game since maybe his freshman season.

Can't dwell on it too much, it was a bad game in a tough environment. But we definitely still have things to work on as a team.

Shocking take from you. Officiating matters in sports—a lot. Athletes are human beings with emotions like the rest of us. Marquette was coasting to a blowout before the refs had their say.

FairWeatherEagle

"Inconsistency"...as rosy eyed MU fans we think they'll play at potential all game every game. But they don't. Room to grow. Maybe by the end of the season they'll be a great team. Not now.

Go Marquette! Grow Marquette!

The Sultan

Refs were typically bad. We lost because they out hustled us. Doesn't happen often but it did tonight.

Got outworked.  Off the glass and give Dayton credit first continuing to attack downhill.  Then Kam had a stretch where he was forcing with a bunch of guys standing around.  Other than Ross, no one played well tonight.

Unfortunately, MU played so poorly in the 2nd half, it surpassed any referees impact

tower912

First time I have seen MU that flat since last year's Butler game

A team that can't keep their composure against Dayton ain't goin' anywhere.

CountryRoads

Dayton just completely kicked our ass. Congrats to them.

I could rage and be upset about a number of things but instead I'll zoom out and have perspective that it's been a good non conference season and we have a lot to be excited about.

This was a very good test for us and huge credit to Shaka for being fearless and scheduling this one. Don't think any other head coach in the country would have the courage to go into there and play.

Buttler is absolute trash. Need to smash them Wednesday.

Blame the refs.
Pathetic.

They were fouling the ballhandler all night long. The difference is that Dayton got 6-7 of those whistles (to zero for MUBB), and three of them were on Kam Jones early.

muwarrior69

What did Vegas know that we didn't. The game was not even close at the end.
