Unless something turns around in the last weeks of the season, I can't see the Jets bringing him back. Well, they're the Jets so who knows, but a well functioning franchise would clean house after this year.

Reports from multiple outlets that Jets owner Woody Johnson suggested benching Aaron Rodgers after week 4

Yeah, Woody Johnson makes Jerry Jones look sane after reading that article. Pushes for front office firings, doesn't allow Douglas to replace his guys. Demands trades, benches players, etc. Just an absolute disaster of an organization.

At least Jerry accomplished something to earn his wealth. Woody just inherited it.

Very funny that there is a slim-but-not-zero percent chance that the following happens:

  • Jets cut Rodgers after this year.
  • Darnold wants long-term-deal, but Vikings are unwilling to give him one because they have McCarthy.
  • Vikings are also hesitant to go into the year with McCarthy as the guy because he's in his first year coming off knee surgery
  • So Vikings sign newly-available Rodgers to complete the Favre arc.

Don't rule out the Giants, which would also be laugh out loud hilarious.

I've actually tried thinking of a place that makes sense for him next year and it is bleak.

The Giants were one of those squads along with the Raiders, maybe Titans.  I guess an argument can be made the Giants are the closest to winning that need a QB but is Rodgers better for a year than drafting a QB?

Unless he's willing to ride pine, he ain't got many options for teams that just need a QB to win it all.  And I can't imagine any team signing him to be a backup and deal with all the drama that comes with him on the roster

Favre still had his fastball. Rodgers does not.

I was thinking Vegas. Maybe he could bring Davante with him.

He would have to just want to keep on playing for playing's sake. I don't think there's a single team that is a 42 year old Rodgers coming off his worst season away from a Superbowl. He is a veteran stopgap 1 year bridge quality guy at this point who at best could take a good but not great roster and give it a puncher's chance given how many wildcards are available these days. Maybe that fits at the Vikings.

I'm not confident it does though.

Vegas will be interesting this off-season with the Brady factor.

Unless McCarthy can't play next year, it won't be the Vikings.

I can't see anyone off the McVay tree taking on Rodgers and running that offense with him

I just don't think he's all that good plus he's not great in the locker room.  If I'm the Vikings, I'm signing someone like Andy Dalton long before Rodgers.

I would be shocked if anyone takes on Rodgers after this year.

I wonder if the Jets HQ is praying Woody goes back abroad as an ambassador again.  His brother seems much more sane, reasonable, and pragmatic as the CEO when he ran the show in 2017-2021.

With no Rodgers and potentially no meddling Woody, thats a pretty attractive young roster with some studs on both sides of the ball

Some rumblings Jets may cut or bench Rodgers
