1.  Barbee Ken coach defense
2.  Good to see the stellar defense ignite the offense.  For about 5 minutes.
3. Too many ticky tack fouls tonight. Too many silly ones, also.  But, at times, I did not know what was and wasn't a foul.
4. Gotta keep playing after the big run.
5. I am glad CMU went zone.  Always good to see that early in the season.  It slowed MU.
6.  I think I would prefer Chase flashing to the foul line against the zone.
7. I hope Parham is OK.  Ah, cramps.
8. Credit to CMU for not folding and continuing to play good defense.
9.  Hit a couple more open 3s... lather, rinse, repeat.
10. Closer than any of us wanted.  To my recollection, MU under Shaka does not have an embarrassing OOC loss.

I think Sean Jones coming back will help the offense. Without Kam setting things up it looks super rough

mug644

Re #6: Kam looked terrible flashing to the line in the zone. He needs to be on the perimeter in order to spread the zone.

Threes. Please, hit some threes.

CountryRoads

Congrats to the 2024 Marquette Challenge Champions!

Should have lost this one. CMU shot 6/25 from three and had 26 turnovers and were still right in it.

CHase hit some 3s in the 2nd half to save us. So kinda needed him as well. But yeah, ultimately agree anyone but Kam there. We cant be having Kam take 2 shots the entire 2nd half of a game we are blowing.

Whatever. The big games start Friday. This game leaves zero confidence for it. But if the Brick Brothers decide to make shots Friday and we win. Today wont matter at all

I fear that will be for the 25-26 season.

#6
3-21 from Jop and Ben isn't going to cut it Tower.  They can't just be spot shooters from distance.  Defensively we can't expect to turn teams over like we did tonight either.  I was extremely disappointed with how we attacked the zone.   Whatever happened to patience and execution?

Tha Hound

Not good. No bench production once again and offense is nonexistent without Kam. Last years class looks downright bad. Hope tre and Zaide figure it out sooner rather than later.

Ben and Jop? I'm afraid they are who they are.

Verypolitical Warrior

Teams are going to run actions right at Kam and try to get him in trouble. Whole game turned without his gravity on offense

whitykj

I'm gonna die on the hill that Jop needs to be allowed to have a mid range game. He's so hot and cold he needs a way to warm up as the game goes. And he needs to stop driving, it's so bad.

tower912

Perspective, Muggsy.  What are the options?

ATL MU Warrior

Kam way too deferential tonight, especially since a lot of the guys he's passing to couldn't shoot it.

wadesworld

Rebounding is going to be a massive issue for this team. We are little and not athletic down low.

We should probably face a zone defense a lot.

Kam will need to play about 39 mpg. Team is totally lost without him.

Went from playing way too out of control offensively to looking scared to have the ball in our hands at all. Didn't want to dribble, didn't want to make passes.

Hoping Shaka was letting them try to figure it out on their own, because his timeout use (or lack thereof) was brutal.

Won and nobody got hurt.

BLWarrior91

Lowry and Norman need to step up.  We are getting nothing from them.  Parham and Hamilton are already contributing more than these sophomores.

Lennys Tap

The good: 21-0 in 3:34

The bad and the ugly: 49-62 over the other 36:26.

Pakuni

CMU gave up 73 points to Stony Brook. I credit their defense for tonight's result much less than MU's bad offense.

It's early (duh) but Shaka may come to regret his decision not to go get some size in the portal.

But he wasn't able to get into the lane for his 'off the backboard' shots. So, what to do?

CountryRoads

Sure hope Owens is a player. Think we got a good one in Parham. He'll be getting major minutes soon enough.

Big Papi

1. Cant go 0-10 from 3.
2. Kam can't get into foul trouble.
3. Tre and Z have been disappointing.
4. Gold is who he is. Not an NBA player.
5. Hoping Owens and Sean get healthy soon.

DoctorV

19 3 point attempts from the 4/5 spots.

17 3 point attempts from the 1-3 spots.

Time for coach Nevada to revisit that, dontchathink?

"But if the brick brothers decide to make shots on Friday we win" got me.
Well played. Not nice, but well played.

Of course they have to keep shooting, but definitely time to revisit the approach when it comes to the amount of attempts compared to the guards imo

Quote from: tower912 on November 11, 2024, 10:26:37 PMPerspective, Muggsy.  What are the options?

We don't need to play fast every possession. Especially vs a Zone in the h-c.  When Ben caught the ball at the FT line, 95% he wasn't even looking at the rim. We need a guy that can make plays from that spot.  Either Chase, Royce, or Stevie.  I'm not sure it's in Jop's repertoire.  We were out of control a lot this evening Tower.  No rhythm in our h-court O.  I'd like more patience and better passing once we punch the paint.  Gold has to be much better moving forward and more than a spot 3 pt shooter.  We desperately need this kid.

Not accurate.

Tre yes so far. Shaka made some lofty praise last year, we lost our All American PG, and he can't get on the court.

Zaide is a difference maker on defense, that's why he plays so much, rightfully so imo.
Offensively, he will get better in time. Have to stick with him and hopefully a Chase-ish like improvement comes in due time, even if we have to wait until next year.

If SJ22 comes back effective, explosive and good again then Tre has a big uphill battle for minutes

Not sure a philosophical change to a program that has been a 2 seed in back to back NCAA Tournaments is needed because of a bad game against a bad team.

AlumKCof93

It's early but we are missing playmakers.  When 3s aren't falling, we don't have many other options. Hopefully Owen's will help that, but it's a lot to ask of.a freshman.

Hoping Zaire can be a consistent contributor.the game seems too fast for him. He needs that breakout game . . .
